Minimalist features with Hoka cushion

I’m on my second pair of wides. These are bouncy, snappy and light with a little bit of flex which i like as a forefoot striker. They don’t feel bulky like other Hokas which keeps me buying them. Love that they don’t have overbearing arch or heal support which I don’t need as a neutral/supinating runner. The outsoles wear quick and limit the lifespan to about 250miles for me. Best on flat surfaces as they don’t protect much from uneven terrain. My only real complaint is the updated tongue. It’s thin and also constantly falls down. Please include holes in the tongue for laces like you did in the previous model!

Shelf life of these shoes is 3 months. Do not buy!

the entire tread wore out with three months of normal use. Do not get these shoes unless you like buying a new pair four times a year!!

These took me to Mach 5 in my running!

Best running shoe I have ever purchased! Cushion is amazing and response when picking up the pace is snappy! As of the writing of this review, I have 234 miles on the shoes and the sole shows some heavy wear. These aren't known for longevity, but overall I am still happy with them! I will be buying a new pair for my March marathon race!

Good, light, but still cushioned fast trainer

Having used the Bondi for long and easy runs, I was eager to give the Mach 5 a shot for shorter races and more speedy workouts. The cushioning is nice, and they feel very light on my feet. I haven't done any races in them yet, but they are much better suited to intervals and tempo runs than the heavier, clunkier Bondi. Pros: They feel light, while providing plenty of cushioning. Sole is pretty durable. Toe box is fairly roomy and the upper is snug without being too tight. Tongue is comfy and stays put. Cons: They are not as responsive as a full race shoe, and the ankle is a little high and tight when using Runner's knots.

Relief at Last

I was on a mission to find a new shoe to eliminate foot pain with plantar Faciitis and of possible soreness and fatigue of the heels and arches altogether. I initially tried a pair of on clouds and while initially amazing my feet felt fatigue, soreness of the arches and some heel pain after about 7 hours on my feet walking. I headed back to REI and felt guilt exchanging the On Clouds for Hokas..But alas the peogram at REI is an amazing thing. I tried numerous Hokas and found myself trying what had Wide fits available in road running shoes. The Bondi 8s IMO were easy to get on and off and were almost perfect but the outer sole rides too high on the inner arch area and even adjusting the insole did little to alleviate the flaw.. I remembered reading amazing things on the Mach 5s..I tried them and while a little harder to get on they have sich a nice and soft and responsive sole. Reminds me of all my adidas nmds and nightjoggers..maybe even better. Here is hoping the Mach5s hold up for a good year of standing and walking daily because my feet felt better after having wore them.

Slippery When Wet and worn!

This review would be five stars, but the sole wears out too fast. I am on concrete and asphalt all day, plus I deal with lower back pain from a prior injury. These shoes absolutely allow all day work, on my feet, with no pain resulting from poor support. However, the souls wear out very fast, and once the grip lines are gone, the shoes become very dangerous on any wet surface.

I got them for basically walking

I needed shoes for basic walking. But the twist is, when I walk 5 miles, I like to run the last 2 miles for kicks. I'm not pushing myself on the easy runs. (I use my Solomen's trail shoes for my normal running.) I've noticed right away there is a lot of cushion, which for me and main use of walking, this is great. When running on pavement, they seem pretty comfortable so far. I do have a concern on how long the tread will last on these. And I did not realize they cost $140.00. Overall so far I'm happy with the comfort and fit.

RESPONSIVE

these shoes make you want to run fast. they're very responsive, lightweight and snappy. theres no rubber tread on the bottom so my only concern is how long they will last. 50 miles in them so far and they feel great. upper material is very breathable, construction is great and they fit true to size for hoka's.

Great Shoe, Major Durability Issues

Love this shoe and would consider purchasing again but have major durability concerns. Currently have 115 miles on these shoes and with no rubber to protect the foam, the exposed foam on the heel has warn down several millimeters. Otherwise the shoe is great. Love the colors and rides very comfortable.

Gift for husband

Bought these for my husband for our trip ti Greece & Italy. He loves them. Very comfortable walking on uneven streets. I found Hoka One in 2018, it’s the only athletic shoe I wear. I’m changing his mind too
