First I want everyone to know that I am a fan of Hoka. Now that I have clarified that I would like to mention what the pros and cons are about this model of tennis shoe. Pros are the color scheme is very nice and the sole thickness is great for a walking/running hybrid shoe. The Cons are the shoe is not well built for durability due to its loose web structure. The sole composition on this is a little too soft which makes the shoe roll to the outside. So I feel this is the low budget version of Hoka and I am unable to give it more stars. Again I am a big fan of Hoka, just not this shoe.
I have ordered or purchased several Hola shoes. I really like them and when ordering this pair I was a little confused about what I received. They’re definitely not what I expected from Hoka. The sole is flimsy and not of the normal build quality that I am accustomed too. I will just use them as casual shoes and not run in them nor return them.
Shoe feels fine, but the sole is not as wide as Rincoln 3 and does not have any of the harder rubber that makes the sole of the shoe last. I have had every generation of the Rincon and this last one is far from Hoka’s normal quality. After about 1/8 the use, my sole is showing a great deal of wear.
First time I’ve ever written a review, but want to add the the guidance to avoid this model. Rincon wearer for 3 years after I switched from Clifton - Rincon for slightly less cushion to improve cadence. The new model runs a full size too small (I’ve worn the same size since 2016. It had far more cushion and lost all the good grip for a versatile trainer (ie not much, just what I I need for Central Park). They made a shoe for indoor walkers, not runners.
I had the Rincon 3 and loved it. After it got old, I bought the new model to replace it. Everything felt off, it felt like an entirely different show. The fit wasn't even close to the previous model. I'm not sure why Hoka did this. If you're going to change everything, at least give the new model a different name!
Slick outdoors, like wearing flip flops on wet garage cement. I agree with other review, this sole lacks an outer layer of firm rubber, and it has worn down quickly. Not recommended for heavy people (who wear through shoe soles faster) and not recommended for PNW wet roads.
Some context for the 5 stars here. I'm not a serious runner -- in a good week I'm getting out 3 days and putting in 15 or so miles. Most weeks, I'm getting out 2 days. Under those conditions, I've really liked the Rincons. I use them for shorter (3-5 mile) runs to take some wear & tear off my Hoka Cliftons, which I still prefer for longer runs. Where sneaker technology and stack heights have gotten borderline cartoonish, the Rincons are refreshingly comfortable and "normal" running shoes at a slightly more reasonable price point.
The new Rincon 4 is nothing like the Rincon 3. We are so disappointed. Both of us found the shoe too short when we ordered our normal size. The fabric is different and looks like every other shoe.
Great looking shoe! It has terrific arch support and amazing comfort.
This is not like a Rincon 3. However, I really like the shoes, but I wasn't looking for a replacement for the 3 series. The shoe is light, comfortable, and not as chunky (big) as my Hoka Bondi 8's, which I prefer. I also didn't find them all that narrow in the toe, and I'm partial to a bigger toe box, but I did size up a half size.. Note: I don't run, I use the shoes as an everyday shoe, to the store, the gym, etc. YMMV
