Just received my order so this is based on first impressions. Normally I wear 7.5 and I’m glad I ordered the 8. So far they’re very comfortable but I’ve only worn them for about an hour around the house and in the yard. I’ll be heading out on my 2 mile walk with my dog and will update if needed. My only “complaint” is the edge of the foam on the tongue is open and looks unfinished. Maybe it’s intentional so it’s softer on the ankle and doesn’t rub
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.
I just bought these shoes and have only done a test walk in them. They seem quite comfortable and supportive but there is exposed foam at the top of the tongue. It is odd and seems like a defect, given that doesn’t seem very water proof, but looking at the photos more closely, this seems to have been an intentional design decision. I’m torn because otherwise they seem comfortable and great but I will likely return because of this
One month in using these as walking shoes and for hikes and the shoes are starting to tear and wear out. Based on the description I expected shoes to go up to a least a year of wear.
I’ve owned many pairs of Merrell hikers, low and mid-high. This is the first time I’m going to return due to quality of construction and design. If you zoom in on the tongue, the edges are unfinished, showing the foam filler! It demonstrates a quality shortcut in failure to not encase the edge.
THIS SHOE IS SO GOOD. I bought it looking for a hybrid trail runner/hiking shoe (I prob wouldn’t go on long trail runs in them but they are a perfect hiking shoe). I hiked 45+ miles in Banff without wearing them in at all. They are super comfortable, light weight like a sneaker but still gives you that sturdy feel of a hiking shoe around the ankles. The laces don’t come undone, and even though it’s not waterproof it withstood puddles and streams. Also, Merrell usually has such boring colors and these are fun! I bought a half size up from my usual size and they fit well.
Purchased for walking and trails. Recently had knee surgery and wanted a sturdy shoe for walking the dog and for outdoor activities. They feel very supportive and are lightweight. I have now used them for almost every day. Good grip on wet surfaces and rough surfaces. Got my normal size (8). Got the teal/aqua-grey/pink colour.
These were so comfy right out of the box! I had been needing a new hiking shoe and bought these on a whim- mostly because I thought the pink was so cute! I’m glad I went with these :) recycled materials, lovely colors, good traction, and super cushioned. Tbd on how waterproof they are but I’ve worn them in light drizzle with no problem. I’m between an 8.5-9 in shoes but always size up to 9 in hiking shoes. I ordered in 9 and they fit great!
I love my new Merrell Speed Solo hiking shoes. They give lots of cushion as well as support to my feet. I walked 11 miles in a day just recently, and my feet felt great the entire time. No need to break them in. And I love the sturdy Vibram sole that should give good, long wear to the shoes. I would highly recommend them and would definitely buy them again.
I have plantar fasciitis and I was happy that these shoes felt comfortable out of the bix, and even better with my insoles. However, they do seem to run a bit short, my tows hit the front when I walk and there's no room for a bigger sock. I was also very disappointed to see that the tongue is made of a perforated sponge material that is left with unfinished edges. I've never seen anything like it, looks so cheap and silly. I will be returning these.
It's always delightful to get a product with a discount and then have it be perfect. After hearing about Merrell shoes for ages, I finally decided to purchase some. I love them. They are light yet sturdy, they grip well, and they fit my feet perfectly. I need a wide toe box and this shoe gives me plenty of room. Already walked 8 miles in them, over asphalt, dirt and river rock.
