Awesome field of view
The first thing I noticed with these is that without looking huge on my face, the lenses provided a wide and clear range of vision. They fit my face well, look good, are lightweight, and really provide awesome protection and visibility. Polarized lenses at this price point are a great deal. They don't break the bank and come with a cloth to clean the lenses and a case to keep them intact while bike riding, backpacking, or otherwise moving around. A great pair of sunglasses for being active.
Like wearing nothing at all...
The version I was sent to review was not what I would have chosen for myself style wise. The frames were rather large and had kind of a tortoise shell look about them. Being a 50 year old male, not quite the look I'm after. So I passed them to my wife who was headed to the beach for a week. She loved them functionally as the large lenses blocked much of the pollen in the air as she jogged and the frames are super light weight and did not hinder activity. The rose hue was not bothersome and gave a very crisp line of sight. I too felt the view from the product was top notch. I wear prescription sunglasses and these almost compensated for my vision. They were passed around between teens and moms and everybody genuinely loved looking through the sunglasses, but was probably 50/50 split on style nearly down the male to female line. However the name Peppers was universally hated by everyone. It seems peppers are not something you would generally associate with getting near your eyes and just not a name that would generate a connotation with eyewear. Loved they came with a good quality case and woudd consider these a very reasonable value. Maybe "Peepers" was taken or trademarked but that would make much more sense as a product name with eyesight connotations.
Super lightweight, nice lenses
Extremely lightweight, which makes them even more comfortable than they look, and probably a big reason they float if you drop them in the water. Speaking of water, the polarized lenses cut significant glare from the surface. The included flexible hard case is handsome, and the microfiber cloth makes short work of smudges. They look cool, work well, and fit comfortably.
Great vacation shades!
I know these are mostly for people who do water sports, like fishing and stuff, but I'm not really into that stuff. But, I like a good soak in the pool and floating on a tube, and these have been fantastic during my vacation. So light weight and they really do float. Crazy! Plus, my wife says they look good on!
Great sunglasses for the price
These are very good polarized sunglasses at an excellent price. The polarized vision is clear; the glasses are lightweight and cool-looking, and the facial coverage is excellent - they extend down to the top of my cheek bones, preventing glare from getting underneath. They also float (although a little bit below the surface, not on the top like a bobber). I have a longer narrow nose, and I especially liked that they stayed in place and didn't slide down. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and wore them cycling, hiking, and dog-walking on the beach, and they were sturdy when I dropped them and also kept the sand from blowing into my eyes. The only thing that keeps me from giving them 5-stars is that the tint isn't very dark - it's sort of a light brown - and I have light-colored eyes, and on a bright sunny day, it would have liked a darker tint. If you have lighter colored eyes and live in an especially sunny locale, or if you plan to spend all day on a boat on a really sunny day, you should consider getting these with a darker lens.
Nice Lens; mediocre frame
Out of the box, I was pretty excited about these glasses. They looked good, felt good and the perspective through the lens was fantastic. I spent a good couple of weeks wearing them daily before writing this review. They have a nice lens, the quality of which was immediately obvious to me. The lens exceeds the sets I normally wear from a pretty well known online-only manufacturer that runs a pretty sweet replacement program (without naming names). Less distortion, a clearer feel, and really good filtration in the never ending southwest sunshine at 7k feet. This particular lens does render a slightly reddish hue. They fit my rather large head and face very well. I can find it difficult to set a frame to my face that gives me full coverage and doesn’t look disproportionate to my features; not so here. The lens coverage gives me a sense of full eye protection. The sunglasses are incredibly light, something which I noticed immediately. They float on the face as they do on water. The fact that they are so easy to essentially ignore makes it difficult to find flaws in them. But here is where they fail and really is a deal killer for me, more or less ending my excitement for them. It took precisely one episode of placing them on top of my head, where I frequently stow my shades, for the frame to warp and lose the tension in the arms. Since then, despite a little tightening with a jeweler’s screwdriver, they have felt loose on my face; as if they’re ready to fall off. And they have; I avoid dynamic activity in order to prevent them from flying off. It’s too bad, given the quality of lens and the fact that they feel as if they’re not there on the face. But it’s a fatal flaw in my book. I’ll continue wearing them until I destroy them, as I tend to do with shades. But I will not replace them with a duplicate, as I often do with shades that I enjoy.
Great for everyday wearing.
Great fit. I wear them daily-feels like they aren’t even on my face. Nice style.
