I bought this running vest on sale, and it has been awesome so far! There are so many pockets and loops that make it really easy to store keys, wallets, phone, snacks, etc. Although, I would recommend sizing up if you are in between sizes. My measurements should have been an XS, but I'm glad I bought an S. Another note is the straws. Unless you have a super long neck you will have to cut them down to size. Fortunately, Solomon has a really helpful youtube video on how to adjust the straw heights, but it was still difficult and required hot water, pliers, and my dad's help. But after I adjusted the straws, the vest worked perfectly! Not sure if it's worth the full price, but for being so cheap on sale I had to get it, and now I love it!
I am 5'3" and straws that come with the pack literally hit me in the eyes. So the female shaped bottles were unusable. I was told I could cut the straws but that would take a lot of effort putting them back together. Thankfully I didn't make the effort before going for run and testing it out. I measured correctly, I defiantly ordered the right size and it fit perfectly. But this vest gave me the worst chaffing I have ever had. I was super excited to try Salomon out since most the runners I know love their stuff. Thankfully I am an REI member and was able to return it.
I bought a few weeks ago, and almost love enough for 5 stars. The pros are huge: - perfectly adjustable - comfortable - lightweight - breathable - doesn’t chafe, even with just a sports bra underneath There’s just one big con: - it is IMPOSSIBLE to get the straws out to trim them I have tried everything. I watched their tutorial and followed their method. I scoured Reddit to see if other people had this issue (they did) and tried their solutions. I had my boyfriend and countless friends try too. No luck. I get around this by crossing the straws (see photo) and it doesn’t bug me too much, but it did irritate me that the tutorial video makes it seem simple and it is most definitely not.
Everything about the tubes is true. Chafes on neck unless you wear shirt with enough coverage. Snags on my Swiftly shirt. Not breathable. I honestly wanted to throw it in the trash after wearing it on a 15 mile run in 75 degrees. I actually took it off and carried it. It's a shame because the proportions of the vest and fit are great. I wish it came with the 1.5L reservoir instead of the two .5 L flasks with the crazy tubes. I may buy the reservoir from Salomon $40 and ditch the flasks and see if it works better. Maybe it won't be as torturous as my first outing? I will have to wear my already snagged shirt so I don't wreck another one.
This is my first Solomon pack after owning several ultraspire and I must say I love it. It fits perfectly and doesn’t bounce or loosen after hours on the trail. I’m 5’4” and 120 lbs and the small if perfect fit with lots of room to layer for the winter. In comparison my daughter just got the xs and she is 5’5” but smaller frame at 110lbs. She found mine rubbing on her neck so went down a size…no issues at all now. We were concerned it might be too small for storage but so far I’ve never had a problem packing everything I need for a long hike or run. Love the option for the bladder but haven’t needed it yet. The only problem we have had is cutting the straws…so hard to get them apart but once done you won’t have to do it again😉
Bought this vest prior to completing my first marathon and boy did it deliver! It easily holds my keys, phone, gels, and plenty of water for runs that can range from a short, easy run to longer runs. It has very little bounce and doesn’t irritate my skin if I don’t wear a shirt over my sports bra! I found cutting the straws a bit tedious but not impossible! Just need some patience and hot water ! I recommend this vest to all my friends
I’ve had this vest for months now and it’s perfect for long runs. Plenty of pockets to store what you need. Lightweight and doesn’t chafe me. I’ve used it for a half marathon and all the training before. Then downfall is the length of the water tubes. I could only manage to cut down one of the water bottles and it took me an hour of boiling water and soaking to get the tube off. I gave up and just bought a water reservoir instead.
I was really excited for the hydration deals at REI and to pick up this great upgrade for my current cheap hydration vest. I do mostly runs between 3-7 miles but will be breaking into longer distances to train for a marathon. I like wearing this vest even if i'm just doing a 3 mi run, to hold a small bottle + phone + keys. It's super comfortable and stretchy. For long runs with a full hydration bladder + flasks, it's also comfortable. I like how it fits securely like a full vest (not just strapped together). I also like the stretchy cords on the front rather than clips/buckles because it doesn't feel restrictive (never too loose or too tight). I was in between S & M but chose small for a more secure fit. It works great even with a jacket. Highly recommend this product to anyone doing any kind of running!
I partially bought this for the hydration and partially for the pockets- there are so many pockets and I don’t have to worry about things spilling out of my belt bag trying to grab something… that was always frustrating. It’s light and comfy… easy on and off, the only negative is that it’s really difficult to remove / shorten and reattach the straws so I’ve had to leave them long and make it work.
I bought this vest 2 months ago and was satisfied with it. The hydration vest straws were easy to cut and I was able to cut it a my desired length. The flasks are a bit difficult to put in to its place and the straws have to be bent a bit in order to do it. The fitting was snug and it was perfect. I get a bit sweaty at my back especially on hot humid months. The quicklink system is my favorite part as it really locks the vest well but still leaving room for me to breath well. The compartment at the back is perfect for a short to medium distance trail run. Overall, I’m satisfied with the product
