Salomon  GRVL Concept Skin 2 Hydration Vest

This vest is extremely lightweight and perfect to wear when running/hiking while wearing a tank top. Little to no movement while running. I'm not someone who enjoyes wearing a vest while running, but this one has converted me. I am 5'5", 150 lbs, busty - and the size Medium is a perfect fit.

This vest is great, very comfortable. I would say it's true to size. It doesn't hold much outside of the water, a phone and then you have one small pocket for salt/fuel. The back pocket is great for a sweater/

I had my eye on this vest for awhile before pulling the trigger on purchasing. Its pricey, but worth it. I have two ADV Skin 12 vests that I like but find that I get very hot in them with the layers on my back when the temperature is above 75 F. Those also rub my neck raw if I attempt to run with just a sports bra underneath. This vest solved those problems due to lighter fabric and only where its necessary. There are enough pockets to carry what I need for unsupported runs up to a half marathon distance. The back lower pocket will fit a packable rain jacket rolled up, snacks, or a third bottle if necessary. I'm a woman with a 39" bust measurement and ordered a medium, which fits well. Favorite running purchase so far this year.

The Arizona summer is brutally hot, and this is the time of year when I usually retire my larger running vest in favor of a belt and handheld. The Salomon Gravel Skin 2 is one of the few vests that convinces me to keep wearing a pack, even in extreme heat. What makes this vest stand out is its minimalist design. The open back panel allows for significantly better airflow than traditional hydration vests, and Salomon’s decision to offer it in a white colorway is a huge advantage for desert runners. The lighter color reflects heat instead of absorbing it, making it noticeably more comfortable during long runs in full sun. My only real criticism is that I’d like to see a bit more storage on the front harness—something closer to the pocket capacity of the Adv Skin 12 or S/Lab Ultra 12. That said, the Gravel Skin 2 isn’t trying to be an ultra-distance pack. It’s designed to be lightweight, breathable, and efficient, and it excels in that role. For race days with frequent aid stations, this vest is outstanding. It carries everything I need without feeling bulky: several gels, a sweat towel, my phone, and either three soft flasks or two flasks with a lightweight layer stowed in the rear pocket. It provides just enough capacity while keeping me cooler than most traditional hydration vests. It’s no surprise this vest sold out so quickly. I hope Salomon brings it back and continues refining the concept with small improvements in future versions. If additional storage is needed, the Gravel Skin 2 also pairs exceptionally well with a running belt, creating a versatile setup that remains light, cool, and efficient for hot-weather racing and training.

I've spent a small fortune on running vests, only for them to feel heavy, or rub on my neck/sides, or cause me to overheat. This vest is incredible. It's so lightweight and breathable I forget I'm wearing it. It Doesn't rub at all, especially not on the back of my neck. The flasks which are included are 450ml, so a decent size, they don't 'jump' out during runs. Despite being so minimal, it has decent storage for all sorts of running paraphernalia as well as phone and keys. Genius

Been eyeing this vest for a while and decided to order it to use for my 50M race. It arrived couple of days prior to the event and I despite the well-established rule of 'nothing new on race day', I decided to wear it anyway. The vest was perfect. The material is super light, and it has the exact amounts of pockets I needed for my nutrition and little emergency kit I carry. Note that aid stations were 5-6 miles apart so I did not need to carry too many gels and chews at once.

Fit is very small. Normally a medium in adv skin 5/12 and can barely get a medium on (male). I recommend a size up. Otherwise might be the perfect 50K-100K race vest depending on conditions. Do wish it came with quiver attachments. Front non zip pocket is perfect for a phone as it's not too wide. Wish Salomon would list size of models for comparison.

Medium for a 5.4” 36C fits perfectly. It did not come with the new flip top bottles as we have with our adv skin 12. The missing feature would be the phone waterproof pouch that we love in the adv skin12 .. my wife has less rub friction with this one on her collar bone and her back breathes !! It’s worth having both versions.

Bought this for road running where I only need to carry hydration, a few gels, and a phone. Works perfect for that and the minimalist design doesn’t add much of an extra layer to deal with in the heat. A bit of reflective detail would be useful for those pre dawn outings.

So happy with this concept design. Love the lighter range of colours. Sizing is slightly larger than the normal fit, possibly because of the crossover rear design. Incredibly comfortable to run in, holds the right amount.
