Salomon  S/Lab Ultra 12 Hydration Vest

The Ultra series vest just got EVEN BETTER! Adding two front zip pockets, a trash packet, AND a 12L capacity is exactly what I was waiting for in the first version of this vest. They also added a dual layered front pocket system which is superb! Vest organization just got a huge upgrade. I also love the smooth, lightweight, bounce free, chafe free material in this vest. Treated me well for 32 miles and 7k ft of vert in the Lost Creek Wilderness.

Its carrying capacity is excellent, it's very comfortable, very versatile, the pockets are perfectly placed, and it dries very quickly. Excellent for use on routes with technical and complex descents... routes in Ecuador

I’ve been really happy with the new Salomon s/lab ultra 12L vest for trail running. It fits securely, feels light, and stays stable and comfortable even on longer efforts, with pockets that are easy to access on the move. One of the best parts is the new Salomon soft flasks: the opening design makes refilling quick and clean, and they’re easy to grab while running, staying comfortable and stable even when full. I also own the Salomon ADV Skin 12L vest, and the quality and comfort feel consistent across both.

It’s frustrating that so many Saloman packs have great features but they can’t seem to (want to) put them all into one pack (better for their revenue I guess to have 6 different packs). I mourn the side pockets they got rid of last year on all their packs. The double layered pocket is appreciated for the phone! Fits an iPhone 13 Pro Max pretty well. The water proof zip pocket inside the left chest zip isn’t really phone compatible unless you have a smaller phone and don’t stuff too much into the pocket. The waterproof pocket is great to stash stuff in. Wish they didn’t take the trash bag away! I do with the back of the bag had a little bigger compartment like in the advanced skin but I know this is the slab so I’m supposed to be more minimalist. I wish the front open pockets were deeper. Appreciate the top shoulder zip pockets!!

This is my first experience with running vests. The vest is really comfortable and stays in place well. The easy open wide mouth flasks are amazing. The only caveat with this vest is that it is not compatible with a hydration bladder with a hose. If it was, this would be perfect. I will probably try the Adv Skin 12 next to see how it compares.

I really like the layout of all the pockets in this vest. It seems more evenly distributed vs the new adv skin 12 since it lost the small upper back pocket. The added waterproof phone bag is a nice touch too. The fabric is soft and there are lots of more breathable mesh features. I look forward to testing it more deeply!

I love the 4 zippered pockets on the front, and the large back pocket is shallow enough that I can reach back into it to get what I need without removing. There is a whole pocket behind all the front pockets that was unexpected, and the waterproof phone pouch is a nice touch. It’s a nice upgrade from the adv skin 12.

Very comfortable, with a soft and comfortable fabric. It remains comfortable even when fully loaded with gear. The flasks are very innovative. I’m completely satisfied with my purchase. The sizing is accurate and matches the measurements provided.

This pack is not nearly as functional as the standard Adv Skin 12. The pockets are very small on the front, and I have had issues with stuff falling out of the back pockets. The location of the pole quiver hooks are also very awkward.
