I have been using it for a few weeks now, just cold weather camping and casual so far. This is an excellent jacket. The cut is superb. It has a tasteful, athletic cut, but I can still fit a slim fleece underneath. It's not overly loose or tight in any area. The hem length is good. The hood fit is the best I've owned. The elastic portions front-side and rear means it immediately fits snugly on, no adjustment needed. It has great coverage of the forehead and chin. Zipping up all the way is not overly loose or tight. Overall, I wish every jacket I own had this fit, considering how well it works by itself and if needed I can fit a couple layers underneath. The jacket is warm enough for me with just a t-shirt, from around the low 40s to the 60s. I really enjoy wearing it. Got a compliment from a stranger, too, so that was nice. The only nitpick I have is when it's cold, about the 40s, the lining does not feel as warm as I'd like against the skin. This is the first winter I've tried Rab, my second Rab jacket after the Xenair Alpine I bought late last year, and I am really impressed.

Not breathable

Contrary to advertising claims, this jacket is not breathable. The inner liner is a normal non-breathable nylon, so the selection of the active insulation and Pertex Quantum Air for the outer is a complete waste. You can easily blow through the outer fabric (because it's breathable) but the inner fabric is like trying to blow through a garbage bag. Really disappointing.

As advertised - Light, warm, and wind resistant

A little skeptical at first with it being so lightweight but it won me over pretty quickly. As advertised it is extremely lightweight, warm and wind resistant.

I decided to replace my

I decided to replace my Xenon 1.0 with the Xenair Alpine Light Insulated jacket. Unfortunately I wish I had not purchased the Xenair. There are 3 key issues I find with the Xenair Alpine Light: - wrist cuffs are not as elasticated as on the Xenon so I found it harder to get the jacket off - the hand pockets are too high up so I cannot relax my arms when my hands are in the pockets which is very uncomfortable - the zip to access the top storage pocket is on the inside of the jacket not the outside which I have found to be annoying

Great Jacket, shame about the cuffs

Fits true to size. Very good warmth to weight. Light, but extremely windproof. The only issue I have with this peice, is the cuffs. I am a large, as I am in all Rab jackets, but the cuffs sit between my wrist and my knuckles, and with no adjustment, is very annoying. I have other Rab jackets with a similar cuff design and have no issues with those whatsoever. Luckily, I am adept with a needle, thread and elastic and have "customised" the cuff. Sorry Rab, but it was the only way I could wear the jacket.

Very warm and light for

Very warm and light for size. For me, the fit is small, mainly due to the non adjustable, quite tight fitting hood and a little narrower than usual across the shoulders for "a regular" fit. I moved to XL which is better, but the hood would still benefit from some adjustment to be able to pull it back off my face. Don't be put off though it is an excellent jacket if it fits you.

This is a great item

This is a great item of clothing to pack for a hike. It packs up very small, is light and when used keeps you very well protected from the wind. I had originally thought its use would be occasional and limited, but it has quickly become my "go to" layer for everyday wear.

Great addition to the Xenair Range

I love this jacket, it gives just the right amount of warmth for those spring/summer days/nights when an extra layer is needed. Or just as a casual jacket for a pub trip. I'm not normally a fan of 'under-helmet' hoods, but this one sits just right for me!

Blown away by how soft and cosy it is

Very light, good wind resistance, good hood great visibility with it and won’t blow off despite not being adjustable. The best thing about the jacket is how if feels, it’s like wearing the softest 4.5 duvet ever made
