Poorly designed for running
For a pack advertised to be good for running, I found it to be at best, a nuisance. I used it on three runs, each the same and about 11 miles with a lot of climbing. Whenever the bottles became around 25% full, they would begin to flop around and eventually come out of their designated pouches. Also, the buckle and strap and very thing and small and it makes it hard to buckle up on the fly. The worst part about his pack is the management of the excess strap from the front buckle. Osprey gives you these little pockets to stuff it in, but the straps come out EVERY time you take off and put the pack back on. You have to restuff the straps every time. Very inconvenient and slows you down. Only reason to give 2 stars is the comfortability once the pack is on the straps are stuffed.
Multiple design flaws
Many design flaws, alas. As others have noted, the flasks shoot water when being put in/out of their pouches, and negotiating the squiggly soft flasks back into their pouches means coming to a full stop if I don't want to risk tripping. When worn front-facing, the outward-angled bottles scraped my inner arms. The overly long and flappy straps are a catching hazard on trail (the excess doesn't stay fixed), and I had to cut them. This pack will be relegated to occasional extra storage for my phone, tissues, energy bar, etc. (but no flask), but only supplemental to a regular hydration vest.
This is probably the best
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is probably the best water belt I ever had. I like the fit, no bouncing, not moving, just in the right place. I like the quality of the material and I appreciate that you can secure the extra length of the belt in the compartment for it I have not used the flask bottles provided I have used disposable half litter plastic bottles because I need more liquid and they fit just fine I lake the pocket in the back and the side pockets you can store gels, you can secure your car keys Everything you need for a long run, it has two loops I have not used but seems like you could store hiking poles in there or a small jacket I really like it
Fail for Running, Will Work for Hiking
I bought this to try for trail running since I was looking for other options to my Osprey running pack and handheld. I tried it on a training run and it was a failure. I tried it lower on my waist but it moved around and moved up since I have an hourglass shape. When I secured it on the narrowest part of my waist, my elbows hit the flasks. It has very long adjustable straps so on my thiner frame, I had an excessive amount of extra straps that wouldn’t stay tucked away and kept falling out and flapping around. I didn’t find the bottles easy to get back in with one hand. The bottles squirt easily, which was the only plus because that kept me a little cooler. I gave it to my daughter to try and she had the same experience. I’ll use it for easy hikes or when I need a fanny pack.
I have ran several 100miles in these but I wear it in the front.
I hate hydration vests in warm weather and in general for the amount of heat they trap. Ran 3 x 100milers in these with close together aid stations. You can fit the large insulated (17oz?) hyrdraflasks in them which is quite a bit of water if you drink a few cups of fluid at and top of your bottles. I wear it in the front so you can see and organizer your pocket and for less bounce. Those small pockets are well used. I have 3 different colors
Awesome Lightweight Option
Perfect option for those seeking a waist pack to carry the essentials on short runs or bike rides. I don't use the flasks that came with the pack. However, the super stretchy mesh does easily fit my 16oz. water bottle - great for a hot lap after work on my mountain bike. The internal pockets keep my phone, keys and wallet super stable, and the material is ultra-breathable. Would definitely recommend this product.
This is a good solution
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a good solution for running in conditions where some water is needed (2 x 375 ml, I think) and you need to stash a few things. I carry a dog leash and dog treats in the side pockets. I carry a collapsible dog bowl in the back pocket and a windbreaker too. The waist adjustment straps stash into a pocket on the belt and occasionally need to be re-stuffed into the pocket but that’s not really a big deal. Once you drink from a soft-sided bottle, you have to stuff that bottle back into the bottle holder pocket and then fish it out the next time but that’s not a big deal either. What’s great about this is how snuggly it fits, no shaking around once you’ve got it on and tight. If need be, the windbreaker/shell being carried can be stowed on the outside and things like food can take up more space in the main pocket. For, say, up to 1.5 - 2 hours, this is a great running pack.
The soft flasks are nearly
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The soft flasks are nearly impossible to put back into their pouches while you're moving and the belt is behind your back b/c they are like limp noodles. The elastic strap that holds them in place snapped off on my first run b/c I was struggling to figure out how it worked from behind my back. Good for holding your phone/keys, but not so much if you need hydration.
Comfortable and well designed
Use this for longer runs. At first glance I thought water bottles would interfere with arms while running. They don't, as the bottles sit nice and deep in the pouch. The nice thing about fanny packs compared to vests is ease of access while running and if need be you can spin it around quickly to see what you're grabbing for.
Much smaller than the Seral
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Much smaller than the Seral 7 and therefore accommodates smaller loads without the bulk of the Seral. The water bladders are small one, or two, drinks each. The fabric is likely spandex as it is very stretchy. I like it for a smaller hip pouch. It is very versatile. Comfort is very good. Longevity is unknown at this point.
