Not happy with these shoes. For $200 I would expect the tread on the soles to stay together. I use them simply as a cashier for a department store because of the cushioned siles. I've owned them for less than 2 months and the tread is coming off the bottom of the soles.
They are more durable that the year before, but within a month of normal, non-exercise use chunks of the soles started coming off, and by six months I had/have holes in the mesh in the sides of the shoe, exposing my socks.
As an over-pronator I rely on stability running shoes. Hoka provides a great stability shoe in their Gaviota line, however the quality of the heel padding fabric is an absolute rubbish. The last pair of Gaviota 4's have about 100 miles on them and the fabric has already a hole in it. This is very disappointing for a $200 shoe...
Good support and excellent cushioning. Too much cushion for running, so I wear them at work (moving on my feet ALL day). Terrible QC on the shoe. Unboxed and on my feet 10 minutes before work...threw the box away on the way out (it was trash day) & while driving felt the back right inside lug was already coming off of the sole. No going back from there. I'd send them back but it seems too much of a hassle. Pretty much done with Hoka.
HOKA Gaviota 4's are excellent shoes for people who need stability, a solid last, and a firm heal guide. On my second pair. Burned through the heal plate in 400 miles but I tend to drag a little in my older years. My previous shoes that either changed or were discontinued: the Beast, Marathon Trainers.
Fit well and plenty of space inside the feet.. most of all is very comfortable. Size 8 wide is the way to go. I can stand 8 hours on a concrete floor.. I would buy again.
I heard such good reports on Hoka shoes. I finally got a pair and the heel slips on the my right heel. The shoe looks great but I didn't pay $180 to look great.
Width got bigger. Liked the old style better. Hoka used to fit better, now all styles are wider. Don’t like that.
The bottom of the shoe started to seperate in less than 2 months of only standing on them as a cashier.
I Love the HOKA Shoes. After the first one that I had few years back I am purchasing only that brand.
