Suunto Peak 9 inaccurate readings

I really like Suunto products, I bought Suunto Peak 9 as I wanted to upgrade my old Suunto watch. From Spec wise watch was looking great. I had issues as this was not showing me accurate Hearth Rate readings during workouts. I know my HR must be 150Plus however watch was showing me 80Plus. One of the expensive lineup and it doesn't give basic measurements was such disappointment for me. I tried upgrading the latest Firmware and customer care but no one was able to fix it. Customer care told me if you're not happy with the product return it and buy new one :(

Outstanding quality!

I’ve had the Suunto 9 Peak now for about two weeks and, after having used it extensively on runs, hikes, and at work, I highly recommend it. The only downside that I’ve found to it is its price, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for, and in this case, you certainly get your money’s worth: the 9 Peak represents top quality. The most noteworthy aspects for me have been: Physical build: the watch body is built almost entirely of metal with a glass face. It is very sturdy and durable, and mine has yet to get a scratch despite lots of use. However, even though it is sturdy and durable, the watch is light, thin, and comfortable to wear (see attached photo). Battery life: the battery in the 9 Peak seems to last forever (likely at least several days; I have yet to run it all the way to zero), even when constantly connected to a phone by Bluetooth during the day. In addition, the watch face is always dimly illuminated -- completely unobtrusive, but adequate for reading the watch face in dark environments (pressing any button wakes the watch up and increases the brightness). Phone notifications: It’s easy to connect the 9 Peak to your phone by Bluetooth and receive phone notifications on it. I’ve always been skeptical of smartwatches until I owned this one, but I have to say, watch notifications are amazing to have. There are many occasions when it’s much easier or more practical to glance at a watch to check notifications than to look at a phone (e.g., when exercising or if your phone is in a different room). In many circumstances, it can also be much easier to detect notifications from the 9 Peak (a vibration and/or beep on your wrist) than from a phone. Customizability: the watch is fully customizable. All alerts can be modified (beep, vibration, or none) and the watch face can be chosen by the user (my favorite displays the current time as well as the sunset and sunrise times; see attached photo). Menu system and touch screen: navigating through the menu system is straightforward and fast using the touchscreen. Fitness: my primary fitness-related use of the 9 Peak is tracking runs. It replaces an older fitness watch that I’ve used for several years and represents a major upgrade. The GPS on the 9 Peak is fast and accurate, the watch display is easy to read while running in direct sunlight, and transferring run information to a phone is a breeze. The Suunto phone app, with which it syncs, is also easy to use and nicely designed. Overall, this watch is highly recommended. Outstanding for outdoor activities, exercise, and everyday use!

Great all around

This watch is very easy to use and has all the features of many other devices that I was using. It is functional and comfortable for everyday and when doing more intensive activities. The three button design is intuitive and allows easy navigation through the features. I liked the the navigation and the bread crumb feature. This watch tracked more exercises then I even do. The only negative is that the blood o2 seemed to be about ten points lower than where it should be. This watch went from weekend hikes to kettlebell work out even swimming and climbing with out sustaining too much damage Over all durable with outstanding battery life it lasted more than a week on one charge.

Light, sleek and versatile!

I immediately liked the size and look of this watch. The face is big enough to be clear to read, but doesn’t take over or weigh down my wrist. It feels so light! I was also impressed at the fast charging speed and long lasting charge. I like the hybrid touch screen and button interface, although I wish the buttons felt more substantial. After two weeks of daily use I’ve noticed no wear, the watch face is scratch free, and my wrist is not irritated by the band. There are so many sport modes to choose from which was great for me - I use this watch mainly for running and trail running, but also for lap swimming, hiking, weight training, standup paddle boarding and as a daily fitness tracker. I really like the snap to route feature to keep the tracking aligned in areas with potentially poor GPS connectivity and I’m glad it has a barometric altimeter instead of just GPS altitude. I like the blood oxygen monitor feature, but I’m not sure about the accuracy. The heart rate sensor seems accurate to me. The app is easy to use and the dashboards are intuitive. I am still getting to know the watch but I haven’t figured out a way to customize the watch faces during activities to get the stats I want on one face, which would be nice

Lot of promise with some software upgrades

I have mostly positive feelings towards the 9 Peak Titanium with a couple caveats. I’ve owned other Suunto products, and this is by far the most polished watch they’ve produced to date I’ve owned. Compared to other watches on the market, it may not offer all the high tech tie ins, but the things it does do with regard to fitness and tracking, it does well. I would say I’m a fairly avid hiker, and I’m excited to see how well this is going to benefit me on the trail with the storm alert option and battery life options. As of now, I feel like it’s a 3.75/5, but with some software/social improvements it could be closer to the 5 stars. There’s a lot of upside to this once they start to get some of the bugs fixed. Hardware 4/5 Pros The material and quality of the build is probably one of the best watches I’ve owned. It’s lightweight and the battery life is on point. With recording daily exercise workouts, I’m averaging a burn of 15% of life off the battery(recording avg 60 mins of workout) daily while the HR, sleep, and weather alarm functions are active. It offers a couple different options for battery life, which for someone who likes to be out on the trail for a few weeks at a time, is one less thing to worry about. I also appreciate the thought they put into the watch band itself. Instead of securing the excess of the band through the free loop most straps have, they incorporated a pin that pushes into the strap to secure it. Replacing the band is easy, too. Instead of needing a screwdriver to pull it off, it has a micro release built into the strap to change out bands. Cons The touch screen loses responsiveness when there’s water around, and the side buttons don’t enable access to every feature on the watch(although a software update could probably address the problem). The other issue I’ve had relates to the SPO2 sensor. It will ask you leave your hand still and can do so for several mins and not capture a reading. When it does capture, its erratic and it gives low readings-often in the 80s, with lower readings at times. Software 3.5/5 Pros The layout is clean and simple to follow scrolling through the different menus. It offers a variety of workouts that can be done. The first couple exercises you do, you may have to go searching through their list, but once you do an activity, it populates at the top of the list for easy recall. The resources tracker is a neat feature to have, and with some time understanding could become useful for workouts/hikes. Cons The social options for the watch aren’t great, especially if you tend to be competitive like I am. The watch is banking on friends (on facebook) using it to build your connections to participate in the leaderboard. It would be cool to see something that brings other users on the platform together to compete head-to-head using miles or steps as a metric. For the watch faces, they give you only a select handful to choose from this early in, but I would assume (and hope) at some point they’ll offer more, or some kind of unique customization options. I also tried to connect a separate HR monitor but was unable to. I don’t know if its limited to only their line of Bluetooth connected products for connectivity, but hopefully they’ll allow a wider range of monitors to connect at some point.

Serious warranty issues with Suunto

Really like the watch but had to send in within 3 months of purchase. They’ve had the watch for a month and said it will likely be another month before it’s returned, at least. Solid watches but horrible customer service.
