Best Suunto yet!

The Suunto Vertical 2 is a powerhouse for anyone who trains hard and spends real time outdoors. The dual‑band GPS is incredibly accurate, the battery life is best‑in‑class, and the screen is bright and easy to read in any conditions. Navigation is rock‑solid with offline maps that are genuinely useful on trails. It’s built like a tank but still comfortable for all‑day wear. My only disappointment is that even after waiting for the REI member discount, this watch never qualified — which was frustrating given how often other high‑end gear does. But in terms of performance and durability, the Vertical 2 absolutely delivers.

Basic and somewhat limited mapping features

Great interface and selections on the watch. The watch is easy to use; however, if you want to access local maps while hiking, the mapping function is less than desirable. The maps have to be downloaded and there is no way through the Suunto app to have a robust view of the trail names or other features. It is very basic as a mapping tool.
