Hero 7 does some things really well
I am pleased with the quality of the photos and videos I take with my GoPro Hero 7. Many people who I have shared photos/videos with on social media have also commented on the beautiful shots. The negatives drive me up a wall sometimes. Getting the camera in the right mode - photo/video/timed, zoom level - is a slow process. If you hope to catch wildlife, good luck. Also, the camera goes into some kind of weird mode sometimes and simply freezes up. I have to pull the battery and start over to get it working again. Finally, I have had to learn to be very careful to make sure the camera is actually off when I am between photos or I end up with tons of video of nothing.
Great idea for 99% of situations
One of the tabs snapped off of my old 3 way (not a fault of GoPro) the new one now has a swivel mount, compared to the old fixed mount. Much easier to level up without the need for extra connectors, that was always a pain. Good thinking from the GoPro team
Diving with GoPro 11
Very useful for diving, still missing a possibility to zoom.
Cracked on the ball base
I was very excited to upgrade from my previous 3 way that I used extensively for years but finally started wearing off. I used the 2.0 a couple of times only and the base where the ball is held already craked!! Overall is an ok-ish mount but I wish I could buy the old one.. PROS: the rotary base gives full movement. no need to unscrew the camera to use another mount. a study hand strap. CONS: already broke!!!!! the arms knots are quite hard to adjust. the body feels very light but also very delicate, I would take it for any extreme sport. The original 3-way could detach the tripod base for a ‘shorty’ kind of mount - this one doesn’t
Thoughtfully designed vs. the previous version
This version of the 3-way 2.0 Grip | Arm | Tripod is a SIGNIFICANT improvement over the previous version. The stability was a major issue on the previous version, especially when media modifications like a Rode mic, light, etc were added. But the most recent version proved very stable when setting up the tripod for various shots regardless of the aforementioned external media mods. Recently, on an extended section hike on the Appalachian Trail, a feature that benefited me was the quick side release from the arm. When you hike for multiple days, it is inevitable that it will rain on you. Unfortunately, I don’t have the most up-to-date GoPro (Hero 7 Black) and had to add the mic which compromises the waterproof-ness of the camera. Well, it did rain on me and I quickly need to secure in my front pack. I simply flipped the tab and slide it off safely securing in its waterproof bag. With the previous version…, good luck on quickly thumbing the screw open to secure in the waterproof bag. The other feature that greatly benefited my video efforts was the integrated ball joint that allows you to change your camera angle without having to reposition the mount. I could level up my shot even on a slight slant. This proved to be a good thing thing seeing how the Appalachian Trail is usually on the unleveled side of a mountain. If you are considering this version of the 2.0 Grip | Arm | Tripod vs the previous version, I would highly recommend the 2.0. -JBENHIKES
just ok
I LOVED the previous 3-way model! I used it for every sport and travel adventure that life would throw at me it lasted 4 years before it slowly started breaking apart. This 2.0 model has the ball joint that is a game changer! However the tripod stand cannot longer be de attached and the joints feel light and cheap. It’s been almost a year since I got it, with moderate use (I slowed down with extreme sports) and it is already loosing grip and the join ball doesn’t hold as strong as before. The screws don’t fully turn to hold the arm anymore, feel like I’m waiting for them to snap one day. I hope the 3.0 model will have better and sturdier joints for the arm!
Excellent product
GoPro hero 11 is an excellent product to make highlighted movies of sports activities. The new image sensor is unable to take videos with a wide vertical angle which is useful for skiing. I can take videos of the sky upside and ski tops downside of the images. AI for making highlighted movies is an excellent one. Easy to make and revise the movie with the Quik app.
Congratulations GoPro! You have won me over!
Ok, I am exactly like you, the one reading this right now... I was searching for a good GoPro 3 way mount, but wanted to buy one cheap... I searched around and found a couple of okay ones that were not GoPro branded... and I can't tell you how grateful that GoPro created the 3-way 2.0!!! I was about to buy the off brand 3-way mount when this beauty came out. It is an absolutely incredible piece of technology and possibly one of the best mounts that gopro has made. It is a little bit smaller than what you would expect nevertheless, it is absolutely incredible. My advice is not to cheap out on other mounts and try to save a buck... because it isn't worth it. Buy this mount! It is 100% worth it for the cost.
My GoPro Hero 5 almost burnt my house down
I have owned this product for several years but have only used it a handful of times. We used it this weekend while swimming with some seals and were excited to see the video when we got home, unfortunately the GoPro had a flashing red light and was now not working properly. We looked up the troubleshooting options and the first one stated that the battery may be dead. Using the cord and charger that it came with, we plugged it in. Approximately 20 minutes later, we found the GoPro extremely hot, with the charging port melted and on the verge of catching fire. The product is now ruined and fortunately we checked it before leaving the house and a catastrophe happened. Now we don't have the video or a GoPro anymore.
Great!!
Fantastic device. Only issue I have is voice commands, but that could be user error  Otherwise love it. Next purchase would be a Gopro MAX to sit along my 8
