Peak Design  Travel Tripod - Aluminum

The light weight tripod ready to handle any camera even with telelphotolens ( sigma 150-600 - with peak design plate ) very stable, well designed tripod every detail incl.the box is a masterpiece. Lifetime warranty is advantage. Yes is a expensive piece of art design but worth any 💰

I bought the carbon fiber tripod a couple of months ago and am very impressed. I always take a tripod along when I go on trips so weight is an important factor. This tripod replaces my old reliable Promaster T525P carbon fiber tripod which is within a few ounces of the same weight as the Peak Design, but has several features that make it much better and more convenient. 1) with the integrated head it's a bit shorter than the Promaster + mini ball head I've been using. 2) it deploys faster than the Promaster. 3) the locking ring is genius... I no longer worry about the camera slipping out of the plate. 4) the ball head is easier to adjust with a simple twist of the ring. 5) tools are always easily accessible. 6) I can carry it in the side pocket of my Lowepro bag. There was no easy way to do that with the Promaster. 7) It works well with my Insta360. I just added an arca plate to the Insta360 pole mount. Suggestions for improvement: the soft case is a bit tight at the top and hard to close. There should be an option for integrated spike feet - perhaps reversible feet with rubber on one end and spikes on the other? With the current design, there should be a storage pouch on the soft case for the spike feet or other small accessories so they don't get lost. Other than that, as far as I'm concerned this design is near perfection.

I have it for many years, got it from the first Kickstarter project and still using it. I made hundreds of thousand pictures using it. It survived 3 cameras. Banged, chipped, lost and found, visiting different countries, it is still always with me on the floor in the back of my car. I is extremely fast to set up, excellent reliable plate holder, fantastic ergonomic measurements, everything fits perfectly and now, after years of frequent use it sits in my reflectory movements. It is so light, that on the concerts or other events I often make panoramic pictures with timer, holding it high with camera tilted down. With the wildlife I sometimes put it on the first section, or adjusted to the sitting position. It allows me to wait long time not getting tired from the weight of camera. I did more than 10 hours long photoshoots, which I couldn't physically stand without tripod, I took pictures of celebrities, singers, presidents and prime ministers when sometimes your hand can shake from the responsibility. Not mentioning the group pictures with myself in them. Plugging and unplugging the camera is so easy, and the fixation ring is still working despite some bangs. I love my aluminum travel tripod. Sometimes I am thinking about fiber one, because of my age, but the best peace of equipment is the available one. Thanks to the PD team for composing such a great tripod. Good job!

I’ve had my Travel Tripod in aluminium for about six months now. I don’t usually write gushing reviews, but this thing (along with the Mobile range which I also completely love) is a gamechanger. It is light, super-compact and like all PD stuff is an absolute pleasure to use. It is most often paired with a heavy and bulky Canon 6D SLR + 70-200mm and is rock-solid. This week I even used it for rostrum type shots which saved me getting out the Manfrotto 190 that I usually use for these. I’m far more likely to take tripod shots now as it’s such a pleasure to use. I also pair it with a Swarovski ATX80 spotting scope and I find the compact ball-joint is perfect. It provided a solid platform for watching ospreys in North Wales last week. I also used the beautifully-designed ‘hidden’ phone holder for some quick videos of bats while there. I’m sure I’d prefer to have the carbon model, but the aluminium one provides great value for a smaller budget so no regrets. The only modification I’ve made is to add a lanyard to the clip-in hex tool as it feels a bit vulnerable and it’s too lovely to lose! Overall, this lovely lump of metal is a total pleasure to use and lives up to all the hype. Get one. Really.

I was already impressed with my other PD products but this tripod blew me away. Extremely well thought out. You can tell they did their research on what everyone wanted/needed.

The first time I saw this Tripod in kickstarter I was sure, this will be my last tripod for the next years. I am still using the carbon tripod and it's still a joy. it is very compact and light and of course fits wonderfully with my Peak Design bags and backpacks. The ability to quickly clip the camera or my mobile phone onto it and pack it back together again is just great. Even with a larger camera like the fujifilm GW690II, stability is not an issue. In the meantime, it has a few scratches here and there, but nothing has changed in terms of functionality; it is still possible to work fluidly with the tripod. Top product and I haven't regretted a penny!

I love everything about this tripod, but a bid added value for me was the case that comes with it, and the options to add spike feet for rugged terrain. So after going back and forth, I eventually got it, and honestly, it's maddening! The bag is snug enough even without adding the spike feed, but after mounting them, it just doesn't fit anymore. And it's not by much, it literally needed half an inch of material. It's such a small thing, honestly, it's ridiculous. Put such a damper on this purchase for me. Now I'm evaluating my skills as a sewist, I want to retrofit the bag to add more material to it because I can't attach it to my backpack otherwise. *frustrated grunt*

I've had this tripod for about 3 weeks and it certainly lives up to the description and the video. It is so nice to experience all the thoughtful design features like the phone mount tucked away in the center column or the hex tools attached to one leg. It's all this touches that assure you that you have purchased a quality product. The inverted ball head with just one adjustment is so quick to use. I love this tripod.

I have now owned this tripod for about a month and it is exactly what I wanted. Super light weight and compact fits in my day pack! It deploys quickly and the quality is unmatched. I was a little hesitant at first to pull the trigger on purchase as these tripods are not cheap, ultimately I’m happy I did. In photography equipment you get what you pay for and this was worth the extra money!

So I used this on my travels to Alaska and used it with both my a6400 as my b cam to record myself photographing handheld AND with my a7Riii with a 200-600. Here’s what I noticed: The tripod legs would need to be tightened to not slip under the weight of the camera and/or if I put my camera bag on the hook. Granted, it was a heavier bag. But when you tighten them, it makes them a little more stiff to open and close the legs when setting up and tearing down the tripod. Secondly, if you are doing any video, get the head adapter and a fluid head if doing farther, moving shots Worth the extra weight and space. It’s very difficult to track smoothly using the ball head. Finally, I took a tiny piece of skateboard tape and put it on the right side of the locking mechanism that slides. This way, I had a textured point of reference with my hand to know that when tightening and loosening the ball head when I was changing angles, that I never accidentally set it to the unlock position. This would be a great thing for Peak Design to add if possible. That way you know it’s locked without having to look at the tripod. Other than those things: worth every penny. I used this in every position and place imaginable. In rivers and on river banks. The small size made it great to reduce weight in my bag. Taking it to Boston for whale watching next week. Definitely a part of my travel bag now.
