Amazingly well built and super functional!

I bought this about a couple months and it now constantly accompanies my iPhone 13 Pro Max with the Everyday case. First things first - build quality: this is a top-notch product. It feels great in your hands, has a solid feel to it! It even comes with a mini hex tool (magnetically attached) to control the tension on the ball-head. The ball-head is so smooth as if it rides on a cloud! How it attaches to your mag-safe phone or a mag-safe case: The tripod has a soft rubbery side to it and it attaches either to your mag-safe phone or a mag-safe case securely and aligns itself auto-magically. The magnets are super strong. Rest assured that your phone will never pop out of the tripod! Usability: See attached pictures for a great overview on the various positions that you can mount your phone with this Tripod. You can use it in landscape, portrait, facing down, facing up, etc. You can also use this on your desk without deploying the legs. This also works well in a selfie-stick mode without deploying the legs. You just unfold the tripod and hold with your had for taking selfies!

Peak Design Mobile Tripod – Long-Term Review (+3y)

I’ve been using the Peak Design Mobile Tripod for around three years on a fairly regular basis. This is not a first-impression review — it’s a long-term, real-world assessment of how the product holds up over time. To be clear from the start: I really liked this tripod when it was new. The concept is excellent, the design is clever, and it feels premium out of the box. Unfortunately, extended use exposed several durability issues that eventually made it unusable. ⸻ What I Liked • Excellent design and portability The tripod is compact, well thought out, and easy to carry. It looks great and initially feels very solid. • Magnetic adjustment wrench This is a genuinely smart feature. It’s intuitive, fast, and well integrated into the design. • Metal construction The aluminum body gives a premium feel and avoids cheap plastics common in mobile tripods. • Great concept for mobile creators Stable for its size and versatile for everyday mobile photography and video. ⸻ What Failed Over Time 1. Rubber feet and leg stability The rubber tips at the end of the legs deteriorate with time: • They bend and wear down • The rubber eventually exposes the metal • They come loose and need to be glued back on More importantly, one of the three legs eventually stopped staying secured. When opening the tripod, that leg no longer locks firmly in place and tends to fall out. The most frustrating part is that the legs cannot be tightened or serviced by the user. The design does not allow for basic maintenance. ⸻ 2. Ball joint failure The central ball joint that connects and pivots the three legs: • Gradually loosens • Starts to slip out of position • Eventually came out completely This is not cosmetic wear — it’s a critical mechanical failure that renders the tripod unreliable. ⸻ 3. Ball tension clamp deformation The mechanism that applies pressure to the ball joint (the clamp that controls stiffness and resistance): • Begins to bend over time • Loses its ability to hold tension • Eventually deforms and fails Once this happens, there is no longer any real friction or control, and the tripod can’t support a phone properly. ⸻ 4. Normal aluminum wear The aluminum body shows scratches and wear over time. This is expected and completely normal — and honestly, the least concerning issue. ⸻ 5. Magnetic wrench retention While the magnetic wrench is a great idea, the magnet that holds it in place came loose. I had to glue it back using a strong adhesive. It worked temporarily, but it’s another example of small components failing over time. ⸻ Final Verdict The Peak Design Mobile Tripod is a classic case of excellent design but poor long-term durability. • Feels great and works well when new • Smart, elegant, and thoughtfully designed • Not built for years of real, frequent use • Not user-serviceable • Structural components fail, not just cosmetic ones After +3 years, my unit is completely unusable. ⸻ Would I Recommend It? • Occasional or light use → Maybe • Frequent or long-term use → No At this price point and with a “premium” positioning, I expected far better durability. It’s disappointing, because the idea is great — the execution over time is not.

The Best Accessory for Content Creators.

How many times have you had to balance your phone on a random rock to take a photo? Problem solved. I’m one of those people who often skips bringing a big, heavy tripod because it’s just too much hassle. That’s why this is the perfect solution for me: a mini tripod that’s smaller than a wallet and fits right in your pocket. The idea is simply genius. It has small legs that fold out so you can use your phone as a tripod in both vertical and horizontal orientations—and you can set it up in literally 2 seconds. The quality is everything you’d expect from Peak Design: metal construction, impeccable attention to detail, and everything fits together perfectly. So, stop relying on that random rock you found on the trail and use a proper tripod. Nature will thank you (and so will the quality of your photos).

Long term issues, not worth it

I love this tripod and I was so exited when I got it. But !!!! After a couple of months of use the rubber tips started to break until they fell off completely. This is terrible and it makes the tripos useless. I did get a warranty and they replace it, but even with the new one Im starting to see that I happens again. I don't recommend this product at all until they fix this issue or get spare parts of rubber in the package.

Fan-freakin-tastic

The best camera you have is the one you have with you, and I would add, the best tripod you have is the one you have with you as well. This slim add-on is comfortable in my pocket attached to my iPhone. It does add a little bit of heft though. The beveled edges and tapered profile mean that it doesn’t snag when taking my phone out and putting it away. So many ways to use and position it with my iPhone, and the ball head is silky smooth. This is going to sit on my phone 99% of the time. I can use it as a versatile tabletop tripod, or a convenient stand to prop up my phone for reading or watching a video. Great job Peak Design, this one’s a winner!

Great in its mobility and versatility!

My first impression of this mobile tripod was that it was lighter than I had imagined. On top of that, it can be tightened enough for my personal use. I also have my wallet stand, which works great, by the way, and I always attach it to the back of my iPhone. However, it doesn't leave enough space for cable connection when my phone stands vertically. This tripod, on the other hand, allows you to do this (although you might need to use an L-shaped cable). If I were to start over, I would buy a MagSafe wallet with no stand functionality and this tripod, because the bit of extra weight would not be an issue for me. Now, as for versatility, I have come to the conclusion that this tripod works pretty well as a tenting stand for a separate keyboard if you own two of them. I have actually bought two to magnetically attach to my separate keyboard for a tenting purpose. Unlike other tenting stands, this one also allows me to tilt my 40-percent separate keyboard to a 50-degree angle or even more with pretty decent stability. Thanks to its size and weight, I can easily create an injury-free workstation anywhere. As I continued to use this for a few weeks while still experiencing pains in my palms, I was able to use my keyboard comfortably, and eventually, the pains are gone. I don't imagine that Peak Design has thought of this, but it works perfectly for me. In whatever ways you imagine using this tripod, it probably works. Maybe, just maybe, the only downside is that the lower part of the attachment is not magnetic, which is perhaps a trade-off for its lightweight. Personally, I would prefer a stronger magnet over its lightweight. Also, only one of the three legs are adjustable in tightness, so some may see this as a disadvantage.

Exactly what I was looking for !

I've been looking for this type of accessory for a long time, and I recently came across a Youtube review presenting the Tripod from Peak design. The product is perfect for the use I was looking for. You can take it out in a few seconds, it fits perfectly on the iPhone even without the brand's case and it's so much better than trying to place your iPhone for selfies or small videos when you're alone.

I just love it !

This is so great and practical for everyday use. It works even without a case—not perfectly, but it works and witch PD case working smoothly👌 Just a small thing: the black color can get scratched and turn gray. This is the only small negative thing I can find. I use it every day and couldn't recommend it more. I loving it and I need one more 😉

Almost perfect

I love almost everything about this tripod. The materials, the fit and finish, the smooth action and thoughtful details. It’s noticeably heavy, but for what it does, and how it does it, it’s well worth it for me. My only gripe is the ball head/swivel. I think that about 90% of the time I would be perfectly happy if it were a simple and strong hinge. The ball and small stem that sticks out of it definitely looks like a weak spot. Plus, if you don’t align it just right, you can dent and mar the edges while flattening it out (see photos). All in all, I really do like this product a lot. If I could give it a 4.75 out of five, that would probably be accurate. However, I’m happy to round up to five stars.

Crème de la crème

I won a free Mobile phone case from guessing on the Apple 2022 Event, and I instantly knew that this mobile tripod was the one definitive attachment I wanted to use for the phone case. I had a slight hiccup initially attaching the tripod upside down. The magnet attachment was weak at first, but I remembered the PD logo is supposed to be near the bottom of my phone from photos on the website. After that simple switch, the tripod was strongly affixed to my phone and I've been using it all over. Propping it on my desk at home, at work, on the pull-down table on planes. I've only had this tripod for a few weeks but I've already gotten several compliments about how nifty it is from a flight attendant and coworkers. Not only can you prop your phone up with the traditional three legged-tripod, but you can also put out all the 3 legs together as a single unit so it keeps the phone upright. If you rest your phone horizontally, you can also have those three legs work in unison to keep the phone flat for wide-screen viewing. If you have all three legs out in the traditional tripod mode, you can "unstick" your phone and place it back on the magnet for horizontal viewing. The tuning key works great, but only works for the ballhead and not the legs (which is fine). All in all, a great phone tripod. Haven't used it to take photos, but for browsing on apps or internet browser it's great. Sidenote: I was debating about getting the tripod and/or the stand wallet, but I think the tripod is the superior one if you care more about the "tripod/stand" aspect instead of card-carrying.
