Peak Design  Pro Lite Tripod

My first pro tripod and an upgrade from a Manfrotto setup. I love how easy it is to setup/take down, how light and compact it is, and how modular it is with additional accessories. I have been using this for a few months now from a kayak to standing still on dry land…it’s just a pleasure. Granted, I don’t know how it stacks up with other tripods in this price point, but my other Peak gear has me believing this is also another home run.

I’ve had it for months and it serves as my primary tripod for 200-600 mm lens.

I received it many months ago and it has already been with me on a number of international trips. I love the tripod. It is an excellent compromise between weight, strength and stability - those who've had to lug tripods all over the place (and on international flights) know this delicate balance well! The head is designed well and the tripod is quite easy to use, once you master a few mechanisms. It is reasonably steady even with a heavy camera/long-lens combo - I've used it with the Nikon Z9 and 180-600mm lens. This tripod is a huge improvement over the previous version of PD's Travel Tripod.

First pro level tripod as I am upgrading from a Manfrotto set up. I have had it a few weeks now and it goes on every outing. I shoot outdoors and in various conditions and this tripod suits them all well. It’s incredibly easy to deploy and very lightweight. I just received the rest of my accessories in the mail and look forward to using this well into the futire.

I bought the Pro Tall right when it became available. I think i left a review pretty quick but I think this tripod warrants a follow up review after using it for the last ten months or so. BY FAR my favorite tripod i've ever owned! I've been shooting since the 1980's, still have my original bogen! I've been using Really Right Stuff tripods for the most part for the last seven years, so i get paying a premium for quality. However, the Pro Tall is an absolute beast!!! Sold all my RRS tripods and use this one! I shoot medium format cameras and stability outside is critical for my architectural work. I've traveled quite a bit with this since getting it and it's SOLID! Even including the tight, well designed case just plays nice! I've had a couple of the travel tripods and liked those for sure, but the dedicated pan and the beefiness of the head is just soooo much more refined. The machined parts too just feel a bit tighter. In general it's just a much more professional/stable tripod that can handle San Francisco winds with a technical camera sitting on top. I do have ONE BIG request!!! A PD geared head would be amazing if you can match the industrial design of the pro ball head!!! PLEASE!!! Would be soo Sexy!!! and would complete the ecosystem for portrait, architectural/landscape work!!!

I purchased a Pro Tripod when they first were released because it was supposed to handle 40 pounds instead of the 20 pounds that my Peak Design travel tripod held. However when I attached my Nikon Z8 with Nikkor Z100-400 it was as unsteady as the travel tripod. While I still like the Pro Tripod, I can not use it as intended and can only use it with smaller lenses. The quick release also takes a bit of getting used to because it is not as easy to use as the quick release on the travel tripod.

To start off this is my first tripod. I have been a PD fanboy for a min tho and been eyeing the travel tripod for some time. After watching way to many videos comparing the differences between the tripods, I set the pro light for its added features. So far the tripod has been great! Took it to Yellowstone 9/23/26 and had a Sony 400-800 lens mounted on the 3 legged baddie. One cool tip. if you want to reduce the length of the tripod even more to fit into a camera bag, you can easily remove the head all together effectively removing about 2.5 inches on the collapsed length. Also the removed head can be used as a weapon to battle any anti PD, or jealous people you encounter in the wild.

Bought a couple of them at the kickstarter launch, I been using it with my large format camera and my many other film cameras, is just fantastic, the size and weight are perfect to travel with it, super sturdy, easy to use and more importantly it feels secure enough to use it on the snow, mud or over a desk.

SOLID and LIGHT. Bought a couple of the Pro Tripods for my Leica SL and spotting scopes - have also the Travel Tripod and used it extensivly. The mobile phone holders are fantastic as well. On the downside a multitude of allen wrenches might be neccesary to fine adjust or fix some of the heads. Only a subportion come with the heads and tripods. All over a fantastic setup even for bigger cameras but starting from the smalest devices. No matter if you videogtaph or long expo photograph - the tripods and heads are a joy to work with.

I have the pro lite purchased through kickstarter. It’s a great tripod, well built. Would have preferred having the mobile mount rather than the tool that the travel tripod comes with. Didn’t want to buy it separately. I had been tossing up between the travel tripod and the pro lite. I wish I’d gone with the travel tripod only because the extra 8cm does feel like a lot now that I can see how big it is. Was seduced by being able to pay in 3 instalments during the kickstarter campaign (and the bigger discount). I’ll still get use out of it, but I don’t feel like I’m always going to be using the tripod just because of the height.
