Game Changer
First pro level tripod as I am upgrading from a Manfrotto set up. I have had it a few weeks now and it goes on every outing. I shoot outdoors and in various conditions and this tripod suits them all well. It’s incredibly easy to deploy and very lightweight. I just received the rest of my accessories in the mail and look forward to using this well into the futire.
Pro Tripod Doesn't Disappoint...It Is A Winner
Having used the travel tripod for years and loving it, I went for the pro model when the Kickstarter campaign was started up. The improvements to the head design are worth the cost alone, and, coupled with the tripod's extended height, this is now my go-to model. The Gitzo is going up for sale! The tripod is easy to operate, light, very sturdy, and the head is exceptionally well done, with an easier way to lock and unlock the camera base to the head. This was a drawback for me with the travel tripod, but I got used to double-checking that the camera was indeed locked in when doing night photography. With the Pro Model, the click-in provides both a feel and a sound. Coupled to this is a smaller, more convenient slider that locks everything down. Excellent design for those working in the dark.
Game Changer
I have had the Pro-Tall tripod for over two months now and It has been revolutionary for me. Previously I could not integrate my base plate with my carry system very well when carrying a telephoto lense, but having the carry sytem and the base plate integrated allows me to shoot more often with my tripod. The overall build is very sturdy and the quck-attach plate and ball head has allowed me to setup, capture, and break down to move again for a shot in the same time that it took me to just deploy my previous tripod. My only issue is that the camera base plate cannot seat level when you have a peak design anchors attached, and the fit can be a bit too snug to get the "snap" feel when attaching and detaching.
Excellent
I have the small tripod and use it regularly for many outdoor activities. It is extremely lightweight and fits easily into a backpack as well as my motorcycle cases. Setting it up and taking it down is incredibly quick. I also like the hook for adding some weight. Everything is perfectly crafted, and I would buy it again without hesitation. The only improvement point is the magnetic adjustment tool. I lost it while transporting the tripod and I can’t reorder it. In my opinion, the magnet should be a bit stronger or have a small bracket to secure it so the tool doesn’t fall off. Another point is that I can’t order a replacement on the website. It would be great if this were possible, or if it were clear where the tool can be purchased. Overall, I love this product.
Great Tripod
Absolutely love this tripod so far. Have only had a chance to use it a few times, but already love it. Like all Peak Design products I've gotten, it is extremely well thought out and designed. High level of detail and quality in manufacturing is evident. Currently also have a Manfrotto, which I also really like, but the Pro Tripod is so much more compact that I will actually be able to easily take it on day hikes, etc. Which means I will then actually have a tripod to use for shots. I have a PD Everyday backpack (also awesome), and as advertised, the Pro fits nicely in the side pocket. It's obviously expensive. I am not a pro photographer but an enthusiastic amateur. I consider it a very worthwhile investment in a hobby that is a passion. Highly recommend it!
Finally a travel tripod that can handle big gear!
I bought the Pro Lite as part of the Kickstarter campaign and I’ve been delighted in every way. I have been using the travel tripod for many years and love how compact and light it is compared to my workhorse Gitzo. However, the PD travel tripod is not as stable as I would like; the stock ball head and thin legs can’t quite handle my big 600mm lens with Z9. It does in a pinch and is still my first choice if I need a tripod while hiking, especially with the lighter kit I carry for that. However, it really excited me to see the development of a sturdier version! The Pro Lite handles not only my Z9 and big lenses, but also my big Kowa 99mm spotting scope. The ball head is much more robust and with a refined quick release/lock mechanism. The accessories are also very well thought out. I especially like the Tilt mod for use with my spotting scope.
Light and built like a tank
This tripod combines the best of both worlds with the lightness of a travel tripod and the versatility of a pro one. The best feature by far is the quick-release plate on the tripod head (which is a lifesaver coming from another tripod where I had to manually tighten it every time. It's definitely a bit larger than I was expecting, but I can't complain considering how many other things it does phenomenally well.
I'm in love with the New Peak Design Pro Tripod
I've used the original carbon fiber Travel Tripod since launch. While it served me well, it could be unstable in windy conditions when fully extended. This new Pro Tripod is a massive upgrade. I’m amazed at the design quality and the significantly more stable legs. The head is a work of art, and the unit represents a real step up for Peak Design. I look forward to using this for years to come!
Great but expensive, accessories not all available
Very high quality tripod. Very easy to use, very stable (significantly more than the travel tripod). A pity that changing normal feet bases with spike feet is not very friendly (when compared to a dilution where the spike feet can be an extension of the rubber feet as proposed by another famous tripod provider). The price is too high however (including price of accessories).
Strange model policy
I'v bought the Pro Tripod with Fluid Tilt Head. The Tripod is excellent, not so the head: Vertical damping is useless for filming work. Therefore, I'v bought also the Profi Levelling Unit to use my Sachtler Head on it. But this unit has no center column and that from the tilt module is not removable to use it with the tilt module! Big frustration.
