Zero drop shoes that feel pretty decent. Ive owned them for 5 months and wore them for work purposes which was in a healthcare setting. Ive also worked out in them a good amount. The shoes feel pretty good for lifting weights. I don't like them as much as i thought I would for running. That being said. After 5 months the rubber grips at the bottom have started to separate from the shoe. Overall, I dont think these are a bad shoe, but I feel they are over priced for durability. I dont plan to purchase these again.
Love these shoes! Light weight, roomy toe box, great traction in wet conditions. I prefer zero drop & light cushioning, which may not appeal to all runners. I highly recommend these shoes if you like a neutral, barefoot like running experience!
I purchased these shoes as a birthday gift for my husband. He strongly prefers shoes with minimal cushion, so he loves these. Just enough cushion to protect the feet when running on pavement, without the feeling of sinking into the ground with each foot strike. We ran a half marathon a week after I gave them to him and the shoes were good enough to help him maintain his fastest pace since college (20 years ago!) and not hurt afterwards. He’s only had them for a month and a half, so I can’t speak to their longevity. But, so far so good!
Been an Altra faithful for 5 years, but find their latest iteration lacking. Tried the Topos at an even lower cushion point as the price was too good to pass up. Wow. 13.5 miles on pavement out of the box with absolutely zero issues. Great shoe! True to size for me.
Strava indicates I have 376 miles on my pair of ST-4s. They have been used on a mix of pavement and gravel and so far show very little wear on them except that the cushioning is flattening out, which happens to me with all cushioned shoes. I currently run up to 14 miles at a time in them. Will definitely buy another pair.
I wanted to love these, but after a few years of wearing minimalist shoes my feet have spread and even the men’s are too narrow for my feet to splay properly. Love how the heel fits, and there’d just enough cushion for long runs. If they came in a wide version they’d be my unicorn shoe.
Love Love these shoes for every day walking out & about; I have issues with foot pain; these are comfortable with the right amount of cushion
I absolutely loved the Topo ST-3’s! I trained in the ST-3s. I raced short races and long races in the ST-3s marathons/doubles/100. The ST-3s were my go to and I couldn’t have been happier with them. Now that I have given the ST-4s a chance; I couldn’t be more dissatisfied with them. They are nothing like the ST-3s and I’m throwing them in the trash cause they’re just terrible.
I am 5'9" and 167 lbs, so not a heavyweight. I use these to walk 5 miles/day on a paved bike trail which is predominantly through the woods. When I first got these and started wearing I would have given it a four star. Very comfortable fit right out of the box, in both the heel of the shoe and the toe box. My initial assessment which kept me from rating higher was that as I planted the heel of my foot in stride, the shoe gaps significantly below both the interior and exterior ankle. This allows significant trail debris to get inside the shoe. The reason for rating a one star is that right at about 100 miles on the shoe, the center of sole, at the heel portion is wearing through unacceptably quick. This is the part which does not have the durable black tread. So while the tread is lightly worn, the shoe will quickly wear through the center. I would not buy again and would return them if I could.
The positive is these are lightweight and eliminate any feeling of heavy running feet. With that being said, they hurt. The outside of both feet would ache after my long runs and my form is solid. I’ve since upgraded and my issues disappeared quickly. If you prefer limited cushion and lightweight these could be a good fit. If not, stay away!
