Never used Topo shoes before, was just looking for a decent all around shoe to log a lot of training miles in to get me through to the next race. I’m a long time New Balance runner but I’ve been a little disappointed by their lineup in recent years. I noticed these on REI and figured I’d give them a shot. Couldn’t be happier with them. I’ve used them for fast runs, slow runs, even long runs up to 22 miles—always comfortable. I’d sub them in as my marathon shoe without a second thought. And the price point seems reasonable. Great shoe.
I have put 50 miles on these shoes since purchase AB’s am really liking them! They offer firm support in a lightweight, colorful package. I am concerned about the soles lasting for as many miles as I would like, but otherwise really love the shoe. Wide toe box feels really good and with heel lock lacing my foot is secure. Shoes handles well on road and trail!
I want to love this shoe so badly. It is light, responsive, low stack (so you actually get ground feel) and is flexible in a way that forced your toes to do the extra work to turn over. The anatomical toebox allows for a lot of toe splay, so if you find traditional speed trainers to be too narrow for you, this is a great option Big caveat regarding this shoe: if you have flat feet and hypermobile arches, DO NOT GET THIS SHOE. I've given it 4 separate runs, and each time, I end up with bloody feet and socks. The high arch support segment digs in very aggressively right behind the balls of my feet, and I always end up with ripped skin and bleeding. If you have neutral or high arches and need a wide toebox this can be the tempo trainer and 5k racer for you. But if you have low or hypermobile arches, my recommendation is to get something else, or invest in a lot of bandages
