I wasn’t in the market for a new ENO but saw this model when I stopped by my local REI. The store had the Technest displayed on a stand (Enopod?) so I was able to try it out. I’ve been a Doublenest user for years and the first thing I noticed was how soft the fabric was along with being longer than my old hammock which seemed to amplify the softness, if that makes sense. The side pocket is huge and is perfect IMO. There’s also a bishop-style stuff sack which is also pretty sweet. Finally, the associate informed me that the hammock fabric is recycled - kudos ENO! Can’t wait to do some fall/winter backpacking this year!
The fabric on this very thin and seems to tear easily. Mine tore on the first from a very easy brush on a rock when getting out after testing out the height after hanging. Eno support has been great so far and provided a warranty code for replacement within a day of contacting them. Hoping that this was a fluke and not a sign that the material is not very durable. Will update after I receive the new hammock and have a chance to test it out.
This is the best hammock I have owned. My favorite part is the stuff sack being ion the end making setup and takedown much easier and keeping the hammock off the ground during the process.
Can’t go wrong with an ENO hammock. I own 3 eno hammocks and this is a nice middle ground from the single and double nest.
This hammock is a softer material than the typical nests, and it feels like it might be more breathable. It lacks the “shiny” texture of the double or single nest. In size, it feels similar to a double nest. We like that it’s one solid, natural-looking color as well (we got spruce green). Ours was missing one of the biners, but we had extra leftover from our old double nest.
I should have read reviews more carefully, especially the comment "In size, it feels similar to a double nest." For me at 5'8" and 160, this is just too big; the sides go way up and make me feel way too closed-in and cocooned -- not really the aim for in this hammock, which is intended for resting and not sleeping. I might try a nest single, as the fabric and carbiner setups seem solid.
This is the best I have it between 2 trees in my yard, I/we love it! Some days we fight over who will get in and how long. Lol
