We "winterized" our beloved hiking shirt to create the men's REI Co-op Sahara Thermal shirt. It uses hollow-core yarn for lightweight warmth that wicks away sweat and dries quickly.

Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

My absolute favorite shirt

Great shirt but sleeves are way too long
The sleeves on this shirt are way too long. All my shirts and jackets are size Large, and sleeves a bit short on many of them. But on this shirt, the sleeves are several inches too long. Otherwise, it would be the perfect quick-dry colder-weather hiking shirt I was looking for. Note - I did try on a Medium, but sleeves still too long (while chest/shoulder too small as expected for me with a Medium).
Great construction/Great look
Love this shirt! Solid, but not too weighted. Looks like excellent construction. Nice fabric-feel, though haven’t washed it yet. Also haven’t trail-tested it yet. Ordered one. When it arrived, ordered other two colors. My only two issues: 1. The sleeves need two cuff buttons. All good shirts have two cuff buttons 2. The colors are severely muted compared to how they appeared on my REI app. But that’s not the shirt’s fault.
Long Sleeves
The material and fit are good, but the sleeves are much too long for me (34-35” sleeve length) and the cuffs are too tight to roll up when buttoned.
Misleading Name
I bought tis shirt thinking it would be a heavier flannel like material. It's not, it's t-shirt thin, the fabric is almost more like a dress shirt than an overshirt. I usually wear a XXL in most Patagonia sizes but this XXL is huge. I'm 6'2" 200lb. As some of the other reviewers have mentioned it seems very overpriced for what it is.
great gift
This was a Christmas gift for my brother who loved it but had to return for another size. The customer service department was very friendly and helpful to him. He likes this shirt as he can wear it to his office in Wisconsin with slacks and still be warm but office casual. The flannel is good quality; thick, soft and doesn’t shrink.
The Sahara Shirt, in the Winter!
It is too early to talk about durability but from a comfort and warmth perspective a solid two thumbs up for the Sahara Thermal Shirt. Wearing it as a mid-layer on a recent 12.5 mile Winter hike on the A.T. in New England proved this shirt to be well worth the money. It is comfortable, light, and warm!
Awful fit and material
This is a shirt that costs ¢10 for the company to make and they’re selling is for over $70?! That’s absolutely absurd and embarrassing. Not to mention it’s super itchy and the sizing is completely off. Don’t waste your time with this.
Awesome but huge
Very nice shirt that is warm and comfortable. It runs large. I wear a med in everything, and I'm swimming in a medium for this shirt. Gives you lots of range of motion, though. If I were to buy it again, I would get a size down.
great fit and feels warm
This is a great fitting shirt just like the other Sahara shirts and the material truly does feel much warmer. I would love to have one of these shirts in REI’s Copper Spice color as the basis for a plaid.
