REI Co-op  Sahara Shade Long-Sleeve T-Shirt - Men's

I received this product for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. This is a solid long sleeve, sun protective shirt. I've used it on it's own and also as a base layer under a jacket for skiing and running. It wicks away moisture surprisingly well, has thumb holes (a plus for running). It's stretchy, and I don't have to worry about sun getting through. I'll be wearing this when I'm out of the water from surfing. I'm 6'1" and have a medium that fits well. Fit is regular, some extra room but doesn't feel baggy. I recommend it - great product.

This is a really nice long sleeve shirt overall. The material feels great. It is cool, breathable, and very comfortable to wear, which makes it perfect for being active or spending time outdoors. I also like the thumb holes in the sleeves. They are a nice feature that helps keep the sleeves in place and adds a bit of extra comfort. The color is excellent as well. It looks just like I expected and is one of my favorite things about the shirt. My only complaint is the sizing. I ordered a large, which normally fits me well, but this shirt is much wider than expected. It feels almost comically wide across the body. If the fit were a little more tailored, this would easily be a perfect shirt. Overall, it is a great shirt with comfortable material, useful thumb holes, and a great color, but the sizing runs very wide.

I have worn this long sleeved t-shirt for a couple of weeks as a base layer because of the cold weather, but today was warm enough to wear by itself. The shirt is made of polyester and spandex and feels really great against the skin. It fits loose on the body allowing air to flow and not get too hot. The thumb grips are an interesting feature to keep the sleeve down. I really like the olive ridge heather color as well. This makes a sturdy base layer or outer t-shirt to keep off the sun and is soft on the skin. I want to wear this every day.

This is a workhorse of a sun shirt as one might expect from the Sahara line. It provides excellent sun protection without feeling too “heavy” on a hike or a beach day. It feels like the sort of short and fabric that responds to your temperature. The color is lovely and it has a standard hanging tie.

The REI Co‑op Men’s Sahara Shade Long‑Sleeve T‑Shirt in Olive Ridge Heather (size Large) is an excellent lightweight layer for sunny days outdoors. The shirt runs true to size and offers a comfortable, relaxed fit. The material feels soft against the skin and is impressively breathable, making it ideal for warm weather activities like hiking, walking, or casual wear. It’s also lightweight with just the right amount of stretch, so it moves easily with you throughout the day. Durability is clearly a priority in the design. The hem and neck feature solid double stitching, while the shoulders, armpits, and side seams appear reinforced beyond that, giving confidence that this shirt will hold up to regular use over time. The thumb holes are a great feature, comfortably extending coverage over the hands for added sun protection. A small sewn-in string loop for hanging the shirt is another thoughtful touch. Overall, it’s a sharp-looking, functional sun shirt I’m excited to wear often. ☀️👕

Great versatile shirt. Hiked with vest over it in cool winter temps. Comfy and stretches to accommodate movement. Thumb straps on sleeves a nice feature. Looking forward to year-round use with ShadeFactor50 sun protection.

The product description is spot on. I do not typically shop for long sleeves unless as part of a base layer. I own a few "performance" type synthetic long sleeves but never wear them because they are not comfortable and have a plastic feel and shiny look that I am not a fan of. This shirt is none of those things, very light, very comfortable and fits great. The thumb loops are interesting and like the description says "discreet".

Tested this shirt the day after purchase and it performed wonderfully. Started the hike with this shirt as first layer, with a lightweight REI fleece as over layer. Temp was 50F, and was neither cold nor too warm with this combination. As the temps climbed (as did we), removed the fleece and wore only this shirt. It wicked away sweat, and remained pretty much dry the whole 4.5 mile hike, then dried quickly at hike’s end. SPF rating for this shirt is 50+, and provided ample protection from the very bright sun that day. At approx 1/2 the price of other brands, this is a great deal for the money.

Fits to size, nice wicking material and it dries quick after workout. I would definitely recommend this shirt. Thumb holes are good for some, but not something I look for in a shirt. I’ve worn this shirt for several workout and my last one was a 4 mile hike.

This shirt is really comfortable. It washes up well and holds its form. I have worn it in hot and cold weather and it seems to adjust well because I stayed cool in the heat and warm in the cold. It's almost like there is a 5 or 10 degrees buffer with it. I have gone on hikes with it and it wicks sweat well. I also feel like I could wear it out to dinner and look dressed up. I got a medium size and I'm normally between medium and large, but the medium is plenty big for me but fits well.
