REI Co-op  Sahara Shade T-Shirt - Men's

As the title states, this is a good, basic, multi-purpose, functional shirt that packs very well (small). Nothing fancy or overly aesthetic about it. It's light, soft and overall, very comfortable to wear. I'm 5'8", 143lbs and the medium ran a bit too large for me. I like tighter, more form fitting shirts and this one was too loose on the shoulders and waist and just a tad too baggy for my taste so I had my son try it on and the medium fit much better on him. He is 5'9" and 165lbs (see photos). 4 stars mainly due to the plain Jane look but if simplicity and function is your priority, then you can't go wrong with this shirt.

This shirt is lightweight and comfortable. As expected, it wicks moisture well and provides reasonable warmth as a base layer or sun protection as a summertime sports/recreation t-shirt. I’ve used it as a base layer for snowboarding, and it performed as well as any other base-layer t-shirt I have (6+). I’ve used it standalone for hiking and other warm weather recreation, e.g., disc golf. I intend to use it for more warmer weather activities like mtn biking this coming spring and summer. It is amazingly lightweight (truly negligible) and comfortable, lighter than cotton (which I love and prefer) and cozier than the best synthetic or merino wool I have. Quite impressive. I also like the look. It’s a heather green that goes well with light color pants or shorts and also jeans, which is really quite flexible. I will be looking for this shirt in other colors to add to my collection. Overall, this shirt is a great addition to my outdoor attire, both as a base layer and a standalone t-shirt. I received my Sahara Shade T-Shirt as I was leaving for Bali, Indonesia. The weather in Bali was intermittent rainstorms with high humidity. I was amazed at how quickly the shirt dried. The shirt has a brushed cotton feel and not the slick feel of my other performance shirts. Our friends from Britain were amazed at how it dried in these conditions. I was not able to test the SPF feature out since it has been raining this entire week. The side panels provide a great fitting shirt. I was able to wear the shirt in the rain knowing that it would dry quickly so a jacket was not necessary.

Breathable loose fitting shirt for the trail, beach, or gym. Please note that i received this product for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. This shirt is super soft, keeps you cool, ventilates and transfers sweat and moisture extremely well. Please note that it is a relaxed fit. I received a size medium, I am normally a medium with a 40” chest and it fits comfortably and loose. My impression is that the loose fit is intentional in order to allow greater flexibility and airflow. Fabric has held up well from a couple of washes and has maintained its shape. No residual odors after working out or running in the shirt. The material is extremely comfortable. Multi purpose shirt that will stay in the rotation.

I received this item through the REI Trailblazers sampling program and I am not getting paid for this review. I have found that this is a great shirt it feels silky smooth on my skin it moves when I move, it wicks and is light. I like to ride my mountain bike, fly fish, hike, workout at the gym practice yoga and play golf. I have found that this is a great all-around shirt whether I'm out in the sun and down to just my t-shirt or I'm out in the cold and it's the first layer. it keeps me dry because it doesn't hold the moisture. I practice yoga and I like to play golf, in either of those there's a lot of twisting going on. It's a great feeling the shirt is so smooth and it moves with my body. There doesn't seem to be any binding and pulling as I'm either swinging or trying to get into that perfect pose. I have washed this shirt a few times and it's coming out looking brand new it's wrinkle free right out of the dryer.

A very light and comfortable shirt, great for hiking or as a light base layer! Flat seems/hems and soft fabric, breathable and quick drying; it's easy to wear this shirt for extended periods and remain comfortable.

This shirt is put forward as a sun protector, which it is but it does much more. I wore it to yoga, where it was comfortable with movement and then on a winter hike where it was a great wicking layer and then to dinner, under a flannel, all on one day. It didn’t smell and looked great.

Great shirt for running and working out at the gym. Wicks away moisture very well allowing you to remain cool and comfortable throughout vigorous exercise. I’m 5’ 6” and the medium does run a little long.

I’ve been wearing this shirt during walks in the neighborhood & short walks & I'm surprised at how comfortable it’s been. Air dries quickly when washed (ca 90 min). Doesn’t seem to have the “chemical smell” you sometimes get with “technical clothing”. Will be looking at getting another in another color.

I received this product for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. I love this shirt! Competitor shirts of the Sahara Shade t-shirt often have overly stretchy and droopy collars, but this collar is perfectly thin and lightweight but keeps its shape. The sleeves hit great, and the seams are smooth. I would wear this backpacking. It dries quickly, and it doesn’t get heavy or show obvious dark spots with heavy sweat. I have worn this shirt approximately 15-20 times (including 3 days in a row without a shower when working on my off grid cabin) and have not noticed it retaining any odors after washing like many synthetic fabrics do. The shirt provides great coverage. I’m a chunky man at 250 lbs., and the XXL fits great (not too long in the torso or sleeves). This is designed to fit a tad loose around the torso to promote air flow in the heat, but this also makes it a a perfect go-to hiking or casual shirt in general. I have had REI Sahara line products in the past, and this is my favorite version of their past Sahara shirts. I plan on buying another color and getting one of the Sahara Shade long sleeves as well.
