Some criticize this shoe for not being minimalist enough because it has some arch support. For me, the support is minimal and does not diminish the other great attributes. Other shoes I have had are more minimalist but they left my feet achy whenever I hike rooty and rocky trails, as I often do. The rock plates in the Trail Glove 6 protect my feet from the wincing pain of roots and rocks, yet retain my feeling of the trail without the unnecessary and numbing cushioning of most shoes. Having tried many shoes, I feel that I have found my perfect fit. I now own several pairs in multiple colors.
I work as a window cleaner and love hiking. These things get great grip even on muddy ladders, wet roofs (metal and architectural), steep inclines, eroded landscapes. They also protect against legos left on the floor by little children. Great purchase. Worth every penny. I think I’ll buy another pair when these fall apart in a year or two
Very comfortable trail glove 6’s. The arch support is wonderful. They are the lightest shoes that I have found yet. I am an amputee, so I have to be comfortable with the one foot that I do have.
I wore these shoes to a music festival and felt that they were comfortable, warm enough in the cold, breathable enough in the heat, and had good traction. Pros: These shoes are more stylish than other minimalist hiking shoes, have a flexible sole which lets you feel every bump on uneven ground, seem durable, and haven’t been too hard to clean. They are also very breathable and are excellent for summer hikes! Cons: As nearly everyone else has said- these are not true minimalist shoes; not even close. I didn’t mind the small amount of arch support, they’re way too narrow. They do stretch a bit after a few wears, but I was definitely looking for a shoe that would have a wide base. I do not think they would be very comfortable with thick socks in cold weather
I've owned every generation of the Trail Glove since the third - and have owned many within the same generations. This shoe, although it feels similar to the others, is definitely more narrow throughout the shoe than the others. The shoe is responsive (love the zero-drop), and works well for trail and road running. I just wish it were as wide as the other shoes they've made. Merrell - please keep up this line of shoes, but make them wider! Please go back to the 3D variety of Trail Gloves. Those are my favorite!

This shoe is not as minimalist as the previous trail gloves. I like this one though because I can run longer distances and not get my feet as sore. There is more padding under foot which helps with rocky trails. I've had this shoe for two months and have run a lot on trails and road, so far they are holding up fine. The size does run a little big. I would order a half size smaller of this shoe. I run in northern Utah where the trails are steep and a mix of desert and alpine.
Thank you for your review, Cole!
These are NOT barefoot shoes. They are too narrow, the soles too thick, and there is arch support(barefoot should NEVER have arch support). Having worn many generations of Merrell barefoot shoes and as well other brands of barefoot shoes, I'm extremely disappointed in Merrell with this design direction. Please Merrell go back to your roots with barefoot shoes as Merrell really helped establish barefoot shoes for consumers?

Fits very well and I followed the size of my previous pair which was a Trail Glove 5. The fitting is very snug and the feet feel well protected. The sole is quite stiff and you get less of a bare feet feel for this model. Overall, I find it is a very comfortable bare feet running shoe and I am happy with it. In fact, this is my fourth bare feet running shoe from Merrell.
very comfortable, toe box is adequate not narrow. this color scheme is really good compared to the others. the zebra swirls go great with the gum bottom. shoe lace securing system has room for upgrade. the retention is not well and it secures in sections vs the feel of the whole foot being grasped
I thought these shoes were extremely comfortable. They are pretty narrow but I never felt like they would rub anywhere they weren't supposed to, and the snug feeling wasn't uncomfortable at all for me. After several wears these have become my go to and I love them. They have held up great so far.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a wonderful review!
