Nice design....But
We really loved the design of the Northern Breeze 12 Screen Room. The 12 x 12 model has plenty of room and some nice features. It has doors on both sides so you can open both for a nice breeze, and shade which is great for a hot day. The sides can all be completely covered for cool nights, or opened with screen for protection from bugs (even noseeums). Setup is easy for 2 but I can set it up by myself. You can even put the doors up as a canopy. We really love this screen room, it looks good and is real versatile. One big issue, otherwise 5 stars for sure. It just hasn't held up, after about 1 1/2 years we have lots of issues with durability. We use the screen room in Florida in the Winter where it does get breezy and lots of sunshine. From the wind, the elastic connections at the top corners broke ( 3 of 4). Three of the clip straps came off, I had to sew new ones on. The side material (not the roof) started dry rotting already. We have lost a complete side, and 1 door panel. The rest has many tares I have taped to try get a little more use before we discard it.
Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear about the durability issue with your Northern Breeze 12. This is designed for temporary (not seasonal) installation and prolonged direct sunlight is likely to be a large contributing factor. Excellent product!
Excellent product! Initially bought 10 x 10, but it was too small for a regular camping table. Changed to 12 x 12 right away. Walls have a slope, and this 12 x 12 feels like a regular pop-up canopy 10 x 10 with vertical walls. Very well designed, very good quality of everything - like a tank. Last year was a big thunderstorm at Devil's Lake, Wisconsin, with heavy rain and wind - no problems whatsoever. Very easy set up just by one person. Awning is just great! A few things, however. It is heavy - about 31 lb, but my feelings are it is heavier. Bag strap is on the way of putting this shelter back to a bag. Very bulky to disassemble and put everything back to the bag. Specially if everything is wet. If you go to camp just for a weekend, start to think whether to set it up or not. For a week of camping on one location - just excellent! But all of this is a drawback of a size and a quality, and I can definitely live with that. Very happy that I bought this product! I did not mention a price, it worth it.
Great for Cook outs
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got the Northern Breeze 12 Screenhouse and it is great for cookouts, camping, or even tailgating as long as you have the right weight for the lines. It has a no-see-um big mesh sides to keep out insects and a teardrop that is used for venting also and offers ventilation while keeping our bugs. It has a door that is 6 feet high so people under 6 feet tall do not have to bend to enter and the walls are vertical to give more internal space and with the side walls you can lift them to make awnings and the inner mesh keeps out bugs. It has aUTO of 50+ Sun protection so it is great for the beach also. It comes in its own carrying sack, the only did are it weighs almost 30 pounds and it takes between 15-30 minutes to setup.
Awesome Screenhouse
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just received my new screenhouse, and it is everything i hoped for and more. My family and i go camping quite a bit in the summer months and this is exactly what we needed for our trips. I am so excited to take it on our first camping trip this summer. The Northern Breeze 12 Screenhouse is the perfect item for any camping site. It is easy to assemble, and the mesh will definitely keep the unwanted insects off of you. I love my new screenhouse, it has my approval !
The best shelter tent
This is an absolutely bomb proof shelter. The ONLY weak point with this is the canopy and the poles. It would be awesome if the poles for the canopy were adjustable so that when it rains the can just be adjusted downward. We left camp to go for a hike and got a random rain storm we weren't expecting and left the canopy up. We came back to the center pole snapped in half at one of the joints. We didn't get very much rain, but the canopy holds water because it's waterproof (a good thing!). We splined it with some sticks and Gorilla Tape for the rest of our camping trip and that worked ok. We just had to drop the canopy down every single time we walked away from camp in case it rained, which is kind of annoying. The canopy held up to 50mph winds one night too without issue. We get a handful of drips along the backside of the tent during heavy rain, but overall I am very pleased with the tent minus the snapped pole the 2nd day.
Mixed Blessing
The size of this shelter is perfect. You can fit it over a picnic table at most campsites. The walls are more vertical than on most screen houses which gives you a lot of usable space. Love that! However, it gets incredibly hot inside and the screens do not let in enough air to cool it off. We also had to seal all of the seams (which I resent having to do on a brand new piece of equipment). It leaked repeatedly from the horizontal seam where the wall meets the roof. Unacceptable. So, if your purpose is to stop bugs, this tent should is for you. If you camp where it is hot, dewy, or rainy, maybe not.
Northern Breeze 12
The Northern Breeze 12 is a very well-made product. My disappointment with this screen tent was the unusual design of the clips used after rolling up the sidewalls and front/back screen. There are 14 of these fasteners along the top portion of the tent, and some are used twice. After rolling up the rainfly, it took me a few tries to get each of the fabric ties into the clip. Next, when I rolled up the screen I used the other side of the same clip, and the first side kept sliding out of the fastener. With the increased walk-in height of this new design, these fasteners were too high for me to reach and use easily. If you are tall, this design would not cause a problem, however, at 5’2”, it was enough for me to return the screen house. REI’s return policy is great!
Held up to winds from heavy storms
Ok. I don't normally review stuff, but I got to with this one. I went out for a week of primitive camping at Dale Hollow Lake and was hit by severe storms and tornadoes that touched ground three miles from us. When the initial front blast hit us, it took out all our tents and equipment with tornado force winds. All but this Screen Shelter from Eureka. I am very impressed by it as it held up to those winds with very high speeds. it blew it hard too, but the poles and guy lines held tight. Everything inside was kept dry by the side walls which we put down when the storms came through. Only thing that snapped was one of the bungie loops holding up a corner but easy to fix. Very good job on this Eureka!
Not impressed with build quality
We Just purchased the Northern Breeze 12 and used it for the first time this memorial day weekend. One of the poles came apart upon disassembly and a few seams are questionable in their quality. Not sure the quality meets the price point. Pretty disappointed unfortunately

Great addition to car camping gear
I really like the addition of outdoor 'space' this provides to our camping options. Bug free and dry on our first outing with it. Placed it over the existing site picnic table with room to spare for other options. Have not experienced heavy wind and rain to see how it holds up. The flexibility of how one uses and sets it up is also a great feature of this item. Four of 5 stars because: a small manufacturing flaw in the screen netting and set up can be a bear. Definitely a two person task.
