Hot climate outdoor camping!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Florida offer 4 seasons and they all end in summer. But duriing the actual summer there are diehards like myself that have found a way to make it more tolerable. They dont make tents specifically for our climate, especially from the amount of rainfall we get. So we converted to tarp camping. It keeps us shaded and dry, but not mosquito proof. Thats where this product saves the day. Tents dont offer adequate airflow so this no seum mesh is perfect and sprayed with permethren, you're now bugproof offering a win in an unforgiving environment. Dont forget your fan!

Don't set your expectations too high

There's nothing really wrong with this product, it's just not amazing. I got the two person version. The diagram on the label is completely misleading. There's absolutely no way two people could sit up in this shelter AND have headroom AND have the sides of their body not touch the sides. But I was expecting that to be too good to be true. The stretcher bar is ok. It works and is small, lightweight, and simple to use. You need to hang this shelter from a tree branch or other structure fairly high off the ground to get it taut. For this reason, it won't clip very well to an A-frame tarp unless it is pitched fairly high. I was able to get it to work with mine by modifying the suspension cord to be much shorter. I tucked it under my sleeping pad in the back rather than stake it out and used my gear to hold the front corners in place. I would say if you need a backup bug shelter that will keep you from getting destroyed, it's fine and will do basically the same thing as a bug bivvy, but it's definitely no replacement for a tent. Pretty minimal protection.

shelter insect liner...

very nice balance between light and too much. some gear is made with a bunch of bells and whistles, but ends up being to complicated and heavy. This item is more to the light side. A pretty good balance between too much and not enough. Price was also quite reasonable. thanks Sea to Summit! great work.

Can be modified to make useful.

It's ridiculously difficult to "insert the spreader bar into the sleeve" Better to have velcro on ends of the bar and sleeve, or have line grips on the ends of the bar. Needs clips for more practical use with ridge line. Easy mods.

Excellent

A simple and comparatively durable net that works very well. The shape makes it very useable. I use my two person for one person. It would be difficult to use for two I think, but doable. Nurse it with a tarp usually.

Needs a door badly

Works well except it needs a zippered door badly. When it's pegged down, you can't just "lift the side", you need to crawl underneath.
