Excellent Support but Very Hot
I'm used to my Brooks hiking shoe that gives me cushioning but doesn't have a ton of structure. These Salomons definitely have structure. I've hiked with them once so far and it was a definite adjustment. They have great cushion, arch support, and provided good support for my ankles and the way I place my feet when I walk. I suffer from hip and lower back issues and am usually in a lot of pain about 2 miles into any hike. With these shoes, I didn't experience anywhere near as much pain as I usually do. It also did a great job at gripping the ground. I was hiking on rocky terrain with loose gravel and sand and never once felt unsteady or that I might slip. My only complaint is that they aren't as breathable as my Brooks. My feet were really hot the entire hike (I live in the southern US). This same shoe but with more breathability and it would be the perfect hiking shoe!

Poor Quality
I purchased these shoes in early August for the Superior Hiking Trail. After 30 miles, the tread showed considerable wear and by mile 200, the heel had worn through as well as the upper mesh in several areas. I own multiple other Salomon shoes and love the fit and comfort, but I am very disappointed in the quality of this model. Salomon customer service was horrible, but as always, REI is dependable and helpful.

Poor Quality

I bought these shoes in early August 2022 to hike the Superior Hiking Trail. After 30 miles, the tread showed considerable wear and by mile 200, the heel had worn through and I needed different shoes to finish. Upper mesh also wore through. I have many pairs of Salomon shoes and love the fit, but was so disappointed in the quality of this model.

If you care about your feet - do not buy

I’ve always been a Salomon fan but I can NOT recommend these shoes. I’ve had them for less than a month and they destroyed my feet. The heels worn through after hiking in them maybe 30 miles? Quicklaces popped almost immediately. Quality is not there for these shoes. Already started my return.

Comfort, Support and toes can spread and be free

These shoes fit my feet perfectly. Lot of reviews are saying they run way big. For me they run the typical half size large, but the toe box is huge, which I love. If you like Altra shoes but find them a little too sloppy/unsupportive on more rocky/uneven trails, these might be the shoes for you. The heel, mid shoe and arch are very supportive and keep your foot stable, but the toe box is VERY roomy and softer, putting no pressure on the toes and letting them spread out to help you with stability. Also, the sole is not quite as stiff/thick as lot of other Salomons, giving you a bit more ground feel. Really hope Salomon keeps this model the same design wise... well except maybe the colors and style. Not crazy about their look (prefer more natural colors/textures), but comfort and support are what is most important, so these are a winner.

Returned for a more supportive shoe

I ended up returning these after a few wears (LOVE REI's return policy for members!) because I didn't feel as stable in these as I'd like. I do a good bit of incline hiking and going down my ankles felt more wobbly than I'd prefer. They were comfortable though and I never had foot discomfort. I also felt I often got rocks/debris in around my ankle because of the pulley system for the "laces" and slipping my feet in. Perhaps it would've been better to adjust it each wear but I just set it and slid my foot in and it left the top a bit open.

Comfortable, lightweight and supportive hikers

Comfortable and supportive with good grip on rocks. Haven’t tested them in wet conditions yet. These run true to size, in length and width. I had shied away from the Salomon quick-lace models after a poor experience about five years ago. Salomon appears to have corrected the design issue—these laces stay fixed during a long hike.

Liked X Ultra 3D better…

After wearing out 3 pairs of Salomon X Ultra 3D’s, I couldn’t find another pair, so I got these. I like the color, but other than that, I liked my old shoes better. For one thing, they were Goretex, and for another, these seem to run large. Still, the shape fits my foot perfectly, so they stay.

Comfortable, but the tongue is not attached

I like this pair of shoes, but I could lke them so much more if they weren't so hard to put on. I cannot just slip my feet into the shoe, I have to hold the tongue as far out as it goes, and as such, it seems much shorter than those of my other 2 pairs of Salomon. The other shoes have the tongue attached to the shoe so it stays up, but not these. Here the tongue"falls into the shoe" and is hard to pull out/up when trying to slip the foot into the shoe. Therefor I hardly wear them and cannot recommend them.
