Nice Fit, Fabric Quality Questionable
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like the wash and fit of these. However, even though I follow the wash instructions, I worry about these stretching out/ loosing their elasticity after a short amount of wear. The way the back pockets look already give me the impression the quality of the fabric won't last long. It feels like there is too much "Stretch" fabric in these, even though it says only 1% spandex in the fabric composition. Also, I will mention that there was a defect on my first pair. They ended up sending me another pair that looks entirely different in color from the first pair (which looks more like the modeled picture. ) The 2nd pair also has a scratchy thread in the waist band that I can't get over. Overall, I really wanted to love these shorts, and I DO like these, but worried about fabric quality lasting long and the consistency of the product seems to range too much.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been searching for a light colored jean short and this color is it. Not only are the a nice color they are a stretchy fit so they're beyond comfy. I think the other colors (same short name) don't have the stretch. I'm 5'8" 147 lbs and I like a loose fit so I typically order a 10 in this short however this color I had to return it for an 8. Maui 4" Short - Blue Tide.
Great color, fit didn't work for me
Unfortunately, I returned this item. I was hoping it would fit me the way I wanted based on Carve's advertising that their clothes are made for real women's bodies, but I found the shorts too tight in the leg. I am 49 year's old, menopausal, and my shape has shifted a bit in the past year. I was looking for shorts that were a little looser around the thighs. I have always had a hard time finding clothing to fit my waist and still be roomy enough in the set and thighs, and these shorts unfortunately did not fit the bill. The size 8 fit, but was more fitted around my thighs than I hoped.
The color and length are
The color and length are great. I purchased a size 2. I really like these shorts. This is my second pair. I also own cords. Be careful if you are considering purchasing. I clicked on a picture thinking I was buying the Maui Short regular fit. When the shorts arrived, they fit different then my cords. I called CS and found out there are two different fits. I had pay to return the shorts that were high wasted. Unfortunately, dues to Carve system limitations, they could not process my request as an exchange.
Comfortable Jean Shorts
These are great, comfortable shorts! I would say the only downside is the hem doesn't stay flat after washing, so I have to pull them out of the dryer right away and smooth them down. otherwise, they fit true to Carve Designs size.
So these are the most
So these are the most comfortable shorts with a great length. The reason for only two stars is the color I feel is a lot different from online. They are lighter with not as much dark contrast making them look on the cheap side. Also the fabric covering the zipper doesn’t completely lay flat so it looks like the shorts are unzipped and they are not tight on me. Not a huge deal but for the price I just expected better. On a side note I have the Oahu shorts and they are amazing!
Just what I was looking for
Been looking for Jean shorts for a long time. Finally decided to give these a try. I am so pleased with them. There is just enough stretch that they hug in the right places but also keep their shape. Not too tight around my legs. Easy to move in and sit nicely at my waist without sagging, cutting off my midsection, or riding up. For reference I am about 5’6 and just under 130 lbs and got the size 4. Would definitely recommend giving them a try.
Great shorts
Love these - the 10" length is great! (Haven't worn much yet, but based on fit) Only minor complaint is wish they were just a scosh higher in the back (don't like gap with shirt hem when bent over or on my bike). I tried the high rise version but fit was not for me at all. Like all Carve clothing, I have to size way down from my usual (4-6). Bought size 0. Beach blue is a tad darker and a little dingier looking than in the photo online.
Love the Mauis! - wish there was a smaller size
My second pair of Maui shorts (also have in white). LOVE these shorts! At age 48, can't pull off the cut-offs that my daughter wears. These look cool, but still provide coverage. My only wish is that they came in a 00 for more Petite builds. I keep having to purchase size 0 and then pay to have the waist nipped in. But worth it. Super comfy fabric, just the right amount of stretch, and just the right amount of distressing.
Love these shorts but sad can't find my true fit in this color
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have these shorts in a size 6 and they are a little too tight. I also have them in white in size 6 and they are perfect fit. For some reason, the Favorite Fade is a little tighter, so I decided to try the 8 - and they were way too big. I am exchanging them for the black in a 6 in the hopes those fit just like the white ones. But, overall, I love the Maui short. They are the perfect length!
