Not great for hot beverages.

The bottle itself is good. It’s 1.2oz lighter and holds 4oz more liquid than the standard 20oz bottle. It insulates as well as the standard version. The “lighter” lid is 0.9oz lighter than the standard lid, but It does not insulate nearly as well. I added boiling water to both a standard 20oz bottle and the lighter version and capped them with their respective caps. The lighter cap was noticeably warmer when compared side-by-side with the standard lid. I used a FLIR One infrared camera to compare the lids. The top of the light weight lid registered at 121°F and the standard lid was 104°. Over a few hours, this will make a substantial difference in terms of heat lost. Not just that, but there’s no way to drink hot liquid out of either bottle without burning your lips. So, you have to bring another cup or switch to the Hydroflask sip lid, which is 3.5oz, eating away at the claimed weight savings. The thinner gauge steel used in the lighter bottle is lighter, but I suspect that it’s not going to hold up to abuse as well either. That’s a fair trade-off, in my opinion. No criticism there. This lighter bottle/cap would probably be fine to keep drinks cold for a few hours on a day hike and whatnot. But, that’s not my application. For my use, winter snowshoe camping, I’m going to stick with the standard 20oz bottle and sip lid because it’s more robust, insulates better, I can drink hot liquid from the bottle, and it only comes with a 2.9oz penalty. My review: Get this bottle if it suits your application.

Lightweight but Keeps My Water Cold!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m very happy with this Hydro Flask from their Trail Series, Lightweight Hydration. I was skeptical at first, because it’s so lightweight, I mean super lightweight! I wasn’t convinced it would really keep my water cold for very long. It claims to keep cold liquids cold for 24 hours and it does. I tested it. I started with ice water and let it sit, just to see. After 24 hrs, the ice melted but the water was still cold. I don’t use it for hot liquids, so can’t say for sure how well it works for those. It’s super sharp-looking, too. Very stylish. I’ve already been able to find lid with straws for it, to make it easier to sip on while I’m out walking. I’d definitely recommend it!

Lighter Streamlined Bottle w/ the Same Benefits!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm pretty stoked that Hydro Flask has released a new lightweight Trail series of bottles. I'm an avid hiker so a more lightweight Hydro Flask but with pretty much the same benefits as a normal Hydro Flask is a huge advantage for me when I'm walking for hours on end. To be able to enjoy fresh cold water while lightening the weight of my load is heavenly. This bottle claims to still be able keep cold water up to 24 hours and hot liquids up to 12 hours just like their original Hydro Flasks. The bottle has a slimmer construction with thinner 18/8 pro-grade stainless steel construction and includes a screw-on threaded flex cap that has a perforated strap to reduce the weight. The pivots are also made of a lighter weight aluminum. In the end, it is about 25% lighter than the their original Hydro Flask bottles. So far, there are only three brushed metal colors, Clay, Obsidian, and Slate, but I'm pretty sure they'll be coming up with new colors soon. I got the 24 oz Slate and it looks great. It's lightweight even filled to the brim with water. The size of the bottle also fits well in my smaller hands. It has a wide mouth opening which is compatible with their other wide mouth lids too, which is awesome in case I want to switch out the lid for something different in the future. Like always, the bottle can be beaten and dented up in my bag and still be reused pretty much forever, or at least I'm hoping. I am glad to have this hiker's bottle by my side for a long time. So far I have yet to see any downsides to this bottle compared to the original other than maybe a slightly decreased cold/hot retention (but insignificant in the grand scheme of things), less customizable colors, and maybe a slight decrease in durability. But with Hydro Flask's lifetime warranty, I think I'll be just fine!

Awesome Water Bottle!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My new Hydro Flask 24oz Lightweight Wide Mouth Trail Series and I have become drinking buddies! It's so lightweight that I'm able to take it with me everywhere I go. My water stays perfectly cold for hours. With the wide mouth opening the Hydro Flask is so easy to fill and add extra ice. Cleaning is so effortless too! The Hydro Flask is made with quality materials so I know it's going to last a very long time! I truly recommend this product!

Keeps my Liquids Cold for a Very Long Time

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am really happy I got the chance to try the new Hydro Flask Trail Series Lightweight Hydration 24oz bottle. This bottle has TempShield which is double wall vacuum insulation to keep your water refreshingly ice cold for up to 24 hours and it resists condensation, so the sides of your bottle always stays dry. The Hydro Flask Trail Series is flexible perforated strap and aluminum pivots for added weight loss, BPA Free and Phthalate free and is compatible with the Wide Mouth Straw Lid. This wide mouth bottle is made with professional grade stainless steel and a wider opening for a much faster fill. This is one of my favorite water bottles because it is easy to fill and drink from and it also fits into all cup holders. This best part is that it is leak proof and is light as a plastic bottle not heavy. I really like that this bottle keeps my drink cold and ice in it for a very long time. I would recommend giving this a try and you will be very happy at the fact that it keeps your liquids cold for a very long time and the bottle has no sweating. The Honeycomb handle is very sturdy and is great for carrying. Also it comes with a great Dust Bag.

Light and portal Hydroflask

I’ve been a fan of Hydroflask since I bought my first one on a trip to the Grand Canyon. I’ve owned several of them in different sizes and colors. Most recently I wanted a smaller capacity one to fit in the side of my backpack. The lightweight model really is a lot lighter than the traditional model. I’ve got the 24L non-lightweight one and the weight different is noticeable. I’ve not found much difference in how long things stay cold (I don’t use them for hot liquids) between the lightweight and non-lightweight one. The wider mouth makes it easier to clean than the smaller mouth of the non-lightweight one.

Amazing Hydroflask!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Hydro Flask 24 oz Lightweight Wide Mouth Trail Series™ - Slate is the best. The large container combined with the wide Mouth makes for a perfect water bottle. Especially when exercising, biking or hiking trails. Or just everyday hydration. It doesn't get any better than this. High quality materials and craftsmanship. I have owned several Hydroflasks and this is by far my favorite. The difference between a Hydroflask and other bottles is easy to see once you own one. They are made much better and last forever. My older ones are still like new. I don't get rid of them, I just pass them down to another family member. I highly recommend anyone who uses a water bottle to get one of these and you will immediatly see the difference.

Be thankful for water.

This hydro-flask 24 oz. size is lighter, with an easier to open cap and nice handle. The reduction of plastic and materials used in this water bottle were the primary reason for the purchase. The secondary benefit is a lighter bottle when packing, walking and traveling. I don't require extreme hot or cold fluid handling, so I don't mind how long it keeps liquids at these temp. ranges. It serves the purpose and goes beyond in my expectations. I love the finish, color and price for value. My aging wrists appreciate the smooth twist-cap that opens with a light touch.

Great value

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve used this product for both hot and cold drinks and it’s great. Even without the lid on, my cold water stayed cold for up to 3 hours. Made some cider on a particularly cold day and was surprised at how well it stayed hot. Much better for colder products than warm but does the job. I love the obsidian, I don’t like the flashy colors so it’s neutral tone was perfect for me. The wide mouth was manageable, but I’d like to look into getting one of the lids with a smaller mouth piece.

I love the 24oz Hydro!

I absolutely love this water bottle for daily use. It is the perfect size for on the go for school and going out. In terms of going on long journeys I think a larger bottle would be better but I still love this bottle. I waited a long time for REI to release a 24oz hydro that I liked and this was perfect.

Great Bottle !!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this after trying the 32 oz which was just way too big wouldn't even fit in the bottle holder on my pack and when full its heavy. The 24 oz fits the bill perfectly for me and the new Lightweight Adventure series is the bomb bottle itself is supposed to be 25% lighter and you can feel it the top of bottle has thinner walls again you can feel it no loss of insulation ability. I store mine in freezer and use 2" ice balls that fit the wide mouth perfect, put 4 in and still have ice balls 24hrs later have tried hot liquids in it. Stainless lid really dresses it up and a boot is a must for me, also no boot to fit 32oz Beautiful remake of a perfect product Thanks Hydro Flask
