Hydro Flask  Lightweight Wide-Mouth Vacuum Water Bottle with Flex Chug Cap - 16 fl. oz.

Bottles that are too tall or too skinny flip out of the pockets on our hip packs and running vests. These are an ideal form factor. Also the screw caps seal very well and are unlikely to leak. The bottle insulation is great but the outer cap lacks insulation. It’s also black, so it absorbs the heat from the sun instead of reflecting it. Bottles that are held at an angle in a pack, keeping the liquid in contact with the cap, are especially likely to quickly warm. The double screw cap is less convenient than a flip cap as it takes two hands to open or close. Also attempting to unscrew the smaller cap sometimes inadvertently unscrews the larger one.

The primary function of a bottle is to keep the liquid inside until it's needed. This bottle does not do that -- it leaks like a sieve. Time and again I've had water drench my bag or flow onto my clothing when taking a sip. Even carrying it upright in a special bag it still manages to leak. I've never put anything in it but plain, room-temperature water except when I clean it with hot water. I know you're not supposed to drink hot water from this bottle and I haven't done that...but I definitely need to clean it with hot water. Could ordinary maintenance be to blame for the poor performance? Whatever the cause of the leaks, it's not working out for me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use hydroflask water bottles exclusively for the following reasons in order: 1) the smooth metal drinking bottle lip that your mouth touches, with no spiral grooves on the outside to touch your lip (standard mouth size) 2) the smaller bottle diameter 3) the lighter bottle weight The new 16 oz bottle, pertaining to this order, attracted me for the light weight, and bottle diameter. Sorry to say that you have killed it by putting the plastic drinking cap on it. The original artistry of the perfectly shaped metal lip has been lost. Appreciating the smooth metal lip each time I sipped made your product a pleasure to use. If I have to settle for drinking out of a plastic top I no longer need to buy your Hydroflask brand. Your original Hydro Flask Trail Series Ultralight Titanium bottle (21 oz. ,standard mouth) solved all of these priorities beautifully. Please bring it back! I am 65 years old and appreciate ergonomic shapes for comfort. People like me are an important demographic to cater to. Don't abandon the good thing you had!

This is the perfect size. It fits in all holders. The drinking top doesn't get trail spice in if you drop it. It's light and easy to carry. Just want I wanted!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The lightweight 16 oz bottle is considerably ighter in weight than the regular bottle. The trade off though is the outside coating easily scratches and I have had to wipe off my fingerprints to keep it clean looking throughout the day. Also, it seems like it could easily deny so definitely buy a boot. I did, and am glad I did. My brand new bottle scratched the first time I carried it around in my tote bag running errands. No clue what rubbed up against it. As for the fingerprints, not a deal breaker and not sooooo obvious but you don’t see that with the regular coated bottles. So while none of these negatives are a deal breaker as the bottle is lighter in weight if you are toting it around in your hand, bag, backpack, I probably wouldn’t buy another lightweight and stick to the regular coating which isn’t so ‘fragile’.

The lid design is what the recipient really wanted - it keeps the part that your lips touch away from contact, but the wider part makes it easy to wash and dry. It's her favorite water bottle!

I wanted to get a hydro flask and something I could throw in a pack and wouldn't leak -- I didn't trust one of the straw ones. I didn't think about the top, which comes off completely so I have to be careful not to drop it. But other than that, it's a nice compact size when you only need 16 oz.
