It is warm but is noticeably heavier than a puffer would be got the same warmth, and takes up noticeable space in travel packing as compared to a puffer, too. The real negative for me though is the amount of pilling under the arms from friction during leisurely international travel. Of course with a natural fiber it’s understandable but still at the price point I was disappointed at the amount of pulling from just one week of travel. Also I would have loved for the hood to be deeper. On the plus side, the sleeves on the XL were long enough for me as a tall woman (5’9”) which I really appreciated, and having the bottom up or top down zipper was really helpful on the long rides. The style is a bit more polished looking for indoor layering than a puffer jacket or vest, which is why I got it for my cold weather trip. I get cold easily but didn’t want to look like I’m wearing an outdoor coat indoors all the time, or quite so much like a tourist. I do wish the hood zipped away into a collar or was removable. Hope that helps!

Amazing on! Sheds like crazy…

There’s a lot to love about this jacket. It’s very warm for a person who always runs cold, yet lightweight in great color and perfect fit (I bought navy). With that said, it pills and sheds like crazy! There are little navy balls floating around on the floors constantly. My brother and law jumped when one floated under the door and he thought it was a spider! I washed it in the machine on the hand wash cycle and the washer was completely covered in navy fibers. So were my hands anytime I touched it to wring out excess water, hang it to dry and check on progress. I do still wear it a lot. I love the jacket when it’s on. Just be prepared that it’s a little high maintenance.

Partially practical

Fit is nice, love the cut + length. Material is warm. Absolute fuzz/debris magnet though, especially for bits of moss and lichen. Definitely more of a fashion piece than something functional, which is unfortunate because I enjoy that sweet spot where clothes look nice but are also functional. Fjall Raven claims on their tag "...outdoor equipment with the goal of making nature more accessible to people." That is certainly the case, I'll have bits of moss following me into my car and house. Not sure whether to return it or invest in a fleece comb/brush.

Almost perfect

I would have to agree with the other reviewers on the "itch", although it may not be itchy to some it is definitely a rougher material. The first time I put it on..I was like NO! But this is the right color and look for a work jacket, so I am hoping that based on the other reviewer's advice to wash it a few times to soften....It will work. I also agree that this would go from a 4 star to a 5 star review if it were lined...for the money, it really should be. Sizing is on, more roomy than most Fjallraven items. I usually wear a small and purchased a small in this...fit great.

Warm, flattering, lightweight!

Very happy with this jacket which I have been wearing since early January. It works very well for daytime temperatures in the 40s and 50s. As advertised, it has excellent warmth and ventilation properties which allow you to stay comfortable whether you're walking up hills or eating lunch outdoors. It has a very flattering fit--less boxy than many of the alternatives (e.g., Patagonia better sweater jacket) that I tried on in the store. I am normally allergic to wool so always wear the jacket with long sleeves underneath. The ribbon tape at the wrists and bottom of the jacket help to maintain the shape well. The only minus is that the neck is a bit too high for me when fully zipped.

Expensive for fabric that pills

I have wanted this jacket for a really long time but could not afford it until now. I absolutely love the color. I love that it is long and doesn’t ride up under my backpack. I really love that the sleeves are long enough for me because I have very long limbs and have trouble finding things that fit properly. However, the sleeves are pilling quite a lot after less than a week of wearing it. I like everything else about it so I wouldn’t return it but for something as expensive as this jacket is, it should hold up better. So because of the price and the pilling and the fact that I think it should be warmer than it is for a $200 jacket, I give it only 3 stars.

You cannot wear a Kanken backpack with this! RIPS!

I loved this jacket when I bought it, until within three weeks of owning it, i noticed the fabric had torn right on the seam. The seam didn't fail, the fabric tore. I hadn't even worn it enough to wash it once. I didn't think it was my Fjallraven Kanken mini backpack that was causing the problem because I didn't see any green fleece stuck in the backpack straps. and then I looked closely at a pic. The seams of this Kaitum fleece fall right where a Kanken backpack will sit. I wear my Kanken mini all the time, and now I see that it will cause the Kaitum to rip in that spot every time. Too bad, this was a really nice fleece and it's poor design that it isn't even compatible with other Fjallraven products. Back to ugly Patagonia, at least it holds up.

Warm and comfortable hooded sweater

This is a very well made, warm, and comfortable hoody. The color is exactly as shown in the pictures. I love the fleece lining in the hood that provides warmth, even without a hat. I’m currently on a trip to North Dakota and have worn it outside in -10 degrees and it kept my head warm when I was outside without a hat for a few minutes. The fit is athletic and the sleeves were a good length. For reference I am 5’3” and 150lbs and got a large (which what I typically wear). overall it’s a great hoody/sweater and ai would buy it again.

A Cut Above the Average Fleece

With the Autumn Leaf color, I now own 2 of these jackets. It's 65% wool/35% synthetic. The wool boucle fabric makes this jacket luxurious. The length is 27.5" in a medium. It isn't windproof, but it does fine in light rain. At 5'2", the sleeves are way too long for me. The sleeves fit the same as a regular fleece jacket, somewhat slim. The shoulder area is roomy. Pockets and hood have thick fleece lining. No inside pockets. I love this jacket, have 2 of them.

Great fleece, purchased a second one.

This fleece is amazing. Just purchased a second one (Navy -gorgeous color) because I was always wearing my olive green one and wanted another. Reviewers that are bashing this fleece because it’s itchy do not seem to know that it’s made of wool?? This is a dense and very well made wool. It’s going to be very itchy if you have a wool allergy. Otherwise, it’s going to wear like a wool fabric should which can be solved with a lightweight shirt underneath if you are sensitive. I can’t say enough about this fleece. Fit is trim and close to the body. I’m 5’9”, 180lbs, 40D and purchased the XL and it fits perfectly to wear a shirt under, or wear as a midlayer and still have room to move freely.

I wear it daily!

I wasn’t sure if I was going to love this because it was SO itchy when I first got it but after a couple of washes, it really softened. I wear it daily now. The hood is super cozy, the pocket zips, the double zip feature is great and I love the fit—slight tapered but not too small. It does seem like this fits bigger than other fjallraven gear but in my opinion their other stuff runs really small. The other feature I love on this is the elastic ribbon on the bottom—so often they don’t use elastic, Making the bottom really tight, but this is elastic! So good.
