Comfortable helmet
I have had this helmet a little over a year. I chose this model because the vents are on the front and sides instead of on top. That helps keep the sun off of my sensitive scalp. The vents keep me cool enough when I am moving, although on hot days I tend to break out in a heavy sweat if I stop. The weight doesn't bother me, and overall the helmet is comfortable to wear. The magnetic clip on the strap actually took a bit of practice to get it fastened, and I still have to fuss with it sometimes before I get it right. My only complaint is that the rubber band that is required to keep the strap tight broke off after a few months. Without it, the strap loosened in just a few minutes of riding. I replaced it with an O-ring, which actually worked better than the original.

Old Helmet
REI is selling an outdated helmet. The exact helmet REI is selling was manufactured in 2019. Helmets have a life span of 3 to five years. I wanted this exact model but produced in the current year 2022 This helmet was made in 2019, which means it's three years old, and it's FULL price for an old helmet. It also came extremely dusty. This was returned

REI Sold me an Outdated Helmet

When you purchase safety gear from REI you expect the best. Unfortunately REI sold me a 3 1/2 Year Old Bicycle Helmet. "A Life Outdoors is a Live Well Lived" unless you crack your brain because of an old helmet that REI sold you. BE SURE TO CHECK THE MANUFACTURED DATE ON YOUR HELMETS FROM REI.

Still selling old helmets

I figured after two years REI must have fixed the issue other reviewers mentioned about selling old helmets... NOPE. Today (Aug. 6, 2024) I received my "new" helmet, with a production date of 11/2021 stamped in it. Keep in mind that the US industry standard is to replace a bike helmet every 3-5 years... and this "new" helmet is only three months shy of that window. For shame, REI. Do better.

Protection is great, but also good design choices

I’m glad they put the Blendr mount on the back. The styling is also pretty cool. My only real major gripe about this helmet is the weight. Also, the tightening mechanism caused a slight discomfort because it is a bunch of wires, perhaps next they could wrap them in a loose durable fabric with Velcro.

Comfortable, but slightly warm

Fits great and sits comfortably. A touch on the heavy side, but not so much that it makes wearing it a burden. The only real complaint that I have: it could use just a little bit more ventilation, as it does get on the slightly warm side underneath. Overall, happy with the purchase.

ok

I purchased this helmet along with the light this past June. Due to an injury I wasn't able to right till recently. I have missed feelings about the helmet. The fit is great. Unfortunately even though the light was placed on correctly it still popped off the helmet during ride after the 3rd use & I obviously lost it. Both items were not cheap so I'm pretty disappointed. I honestly want to return the helmet but not sure if REI will accept after 90days.Pretty bummed.

Probably saved my life this morning

Ok. It’s not an attractive helmet, it doesn't vent that well. What it does is save your life. Crashed this morning on a bridge. My wavcell to a full hit on the right front. Absorbed the shock. I walked away.

Comfortable and great fitting helmet

It has been several years since I have owned a bike helmet. So when I put this helmet on and adjusted to my head, I was astounded at how great the fit was. It cradled my head perfectly and felt secure while still being comfortable. Out on rides there has been no movement or readjustment needed. You almost forget it is on your head. I am very happy with this purchase.
