I'm looking for a lightweight, stable, easy to use seat to use taking shoes off, etc outside of my tent. The positives are it's lightweight and packs down small. It is also well made. The negatives are it is not easy for me to get the seat stretched over the frame, its small enough that I feel like I'm going to fall off if I did anything but merely sit on it, and that's on the floor in my house. Also, I believe it is lower sitting in it than advertised; difficult to get out of once seated, though it can be done. I'm 74, 5'11" and 180lbs. Had it not been for the COVID issues, I would have tried it at a store, but that didn't happen. Though I rarely do this, I'll be returning it.
Get it. It's impeccably designed and built. Strong yet light. Easy to put together and tear down and pack out. The coolest thing about this stool is that it's actually a legit functional, comfortable and supportive CHAIR. It has a way of sort of just supporting your spine and I can plop right down in premium campfire posture and stay there for an hour before needing to readjust or move. It's a really, really good design, and it's super packable at roughly the size of one of the big Nalgene bottles. Might be Big Agnes's actual magnum opus, and that's saying something.
As an structural engineer. The stool is well engineered. The fabric has good reinforcements and light weight material. Is a backpacking stool. Designed to seat and put on your boots, in the morning, eat by the campfire or tent. I really like it. I do a lot of high altitude mountaineering. And wear double plastic boots. This chair makes a difference, no more struggle on the floor of my trying to put on my boots. Packed down is the size of a nalgene bottle, so no space or weight compromised. See ya in Camp Muir
A must for backpacking. By opting for the stool you save a little weight but still have the comfort of a good seat after a tough day. It’s worth the weight and the money for the luxury- very sturdy and easy to assemble! But fan
It is not 14" seat height. My seat was 9" off the ground when I sat in this. I weight 227 lbs. It seems well made and holds me OK. It wiggles side to side a bit but I didn't feel like I was going to tip over or anything. If you are OK sitting almost on the ground, this might be a good product for you. It is very lightweight and seems well made.
Great stool! When I purchased it, I thought I grabbed the model with the back rest but instead grabbed the model without. However, that turned out being perfect, as it was easier to get in and out of the stool and the assembly is super easy. I accidentally had the stool too close to the fire and an ember burned a hole in the material. No big deal though, as the burn make tear hasn’t expanded and looks like a badge of courage!! All camping gear should look well-used! The stool folds up and is stored in a very small bag. Lightweight but very durable.
This is very comfortable and lightweight (and crazy expensive!) but would be worth it if the legs were about 5 inches longer. I love it and I feel like it’s what I’ve been looking for but it’s just way too low to the ground for me...I find it hard to get up out of....
Chanced upon this at the garage sale section. Gotta say, quite pleased with it so far. It’s light, packs down to the size a thick salami stick, and fairly easy to set up. It feels a lot sturdier than the Flexlite chair, but I wouldn’t go bouncing around on it. Looking forward to not sitting on hard rocks or fallen trees when cooking.
Bought this in store thinking I was getting the chair, not the stool. Keeping it anyway because I have no complaints and I love it!
I agree with the other reviewers about the height. In addition, while this stool may be convenient for backpackng it takes a while to assemble and disassemble and this did not fit my needs for quick changes for fly fishing gear streamside. In adiition, the $19 I had to pay to USPS to return the stool was disappointing with all the REI stores being closed.
