Big Agnes  Skyline UL Stool

I just got the stool and there are 2 noticeable issues: 1. Trail weight is 554g and total weight is 576g. 2. Poles are not color coded. The stool is quite comfortable, but I feel like the weight difference is too high when taking a decision around Ultralight equipment.

To be honest, I did not expect this to be as comfortable as it is! I had gotten it for glassing during hunting season and not having to sit in the snow or mud, but I'm excited to use it for other applications now! Personally, I think it would be really nice for ice-fishing and camping too. It's super lightweight, and packs down small. When you set it up, it's actually bigger than I thought it was going to be. (Which is great!) I struggled a tiny bit putting it together for the first time, but that was 100% me not reading the directions. Once I read the directions it was easy.

I used to carry a folding Coleman stool with my daypack while in the Marines and then Army. The fabric on my Coleman finally gave out. This stool is heavier, but easier to pack and more durable. There pegs are a focal point of pressure, so be mindful of what you place the legs on or leg(s) may sink into the ground a bit and you'll tip over. I was thrilled when I found a company from my home state of Colorado made a solid stool that had capacity for heavy weight. I feel like this stool is very comfortable to get into and out of. I am 5'8“ and about 195lbs. My knees usually hurt, but getting in and out of this stool doesn't bother me unless I am overdoing it with hiking with weight (~65-110lbs) for long distances (12-24miles). Great stool, Big Agnes.

This is a great little seat and is really stable. It packs up small so its really portable, and has a real size seat. I have been keeping it in the car this year so I have a place to sit while I wait for curb side pick up, at the vets office for those wait outside appointments. I also use it for my field work when I have to stop and fill out data forms. Much nicer than sitting in the car. Lastly, I use it to sit streamside where the uneven surface makes other chairs unstable. This stool is super stable and is not too low.

Bought this for bikepacking. Definitely nice to have but slightly heavy for what I want. It was really nice to use it to keep food off the ground under my rainfly of the copper spur tent. Helped keep critters away. I stored it in a manner that the bungies in the poles broke pretty early. I recommend not storing upright when traveling to avoid the bungees bouncy and getting rubbed by vibrations, specifically for bikepacking. I had it in a rear upright salsa exp anything bag with a hard bottom and no bag.

I felt really dumb buying this, but I cant believe how much I love it. I never want to bring other chairs camping cause they're so bulky, but this stool fits in my extra water bottle holder. I find myself leaning forward while sitting most of the time, so the lack of back support doesnt bother me. I left it at home on my last backpacking trip to save weight, but regretted it instantly. Only downside is that they came out with a purple version a few weeks after I bought it in black.

Fantastic item for all around use. Indoor/outdoor events, gatherings and parties, hikes, you name it! It's diminutive size when packed makes taking it anywhere a breeze. So light weight you'll forget you have it. Weirdly Comfortable for how small the seat is. Only downside is no back support, but that's the obvious trade-off for its incredibly tiny size and weight. A little pricy for what it is, imo, but compared to any competition it's lighter by half and packs up much smaller. It's frame is sturdy and reinforced fabric instills confidence it will hold up over time with negligible stretching. Keep away from sharp objects and cigarettes/coals! It's a pretty penny, but well worth the price. Hurt my leg once and carried it everywhere with me. Lines at the cashier, etc.. Deploys and packs in seconds.

I purchased this chair for backpacking. I have numerous Big Agnes chairs since I like that Big Agnes chair legs are not connected using plastic joints, so I perceive they will last longer. In this instance, the stool or chair is lightweight and ideal for back packing. While I would not say the stool is fragile, I don't perceive the stool to be stable for larger, heavier users, so I use it carefully. However, my son in law doesn't like to use it.

I've been looking for a reliable, small form factor sitting perch to fit into my cruiser vest to keep me elevated out of the poison ivy while having lunch or surveying. Set-up and take down is great and gets faster with use. I trust the stitching and material around the insertion points but am a little worried how the coating on the material will age with use, it reminds me of an old rain jacket I had that delaminated.

This stool is so crazy lightweight, it's rarely a question of whether I'll bring it on a hike, backpacking trip, or even to a soccer game. I just always bring it. What I love about it is how easy it is to carry and how small it packs down. I can throw it in a small pack or even in the car door pocket. That, and the frame is very strong. No plastic joints holding it together that would eventually fail. SOLID solid stool.
