Great For Someone Who Wears Flip-Flops
I wanted to like these sandals, and, I tried to make them work, but they aren't for someone like me who doesn't like flip-flops. First the good, they have a great sole with arch support and the straps are adjustable. Great shoes for running around after a day in boots. At first, the straps are kind of hard and cut into my feet. I washed them with towels per Chaco's instructions on the website. That helped with the softening of the footbed and the straps. However, I got blisters between my toes after a full day of wearing sandals. These are great for someone who wears flip-flops who want a comfortable sandal with great foot support.
Cute but...
These are really cute sandals and at first they fit great (once I had tightened and loosened the straps where necessary). But after a few hours the large straps between by toes started to rub and they were not as comfortable as I had hoped. I was a little worried they would fall off easy because they didn't have the back strap on my other chacos, but they stayed on without issue. The first few times I wore them it was all day and each time by the end of the day my toe was sore and raw. I think with significantly more use my toes may get used to it. They were great for the first few hours too. So, overall great sandals, really cute, but they may rub your toes after you wear them for awhile.
Chaco's Comfort with the ease of a flip flop
I've been a Chaco devotee for years now - I love how versatile the shoes are for almost any outdoor activity. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to fit the straps of the Tegu to my foot (a step I always tend to struggle with!) and how easy it is to slip in and out of the sandal. The fit is comfortable, especially around my big toe, and the arch support is great. Of course, the ease of slipping in without a back strap means that, for me, the sandal isn't as great for longer hikes. But, for shorter day hikes, walks, kayaking, etc. it's great!
Not the high thong
I am a devotee of the discontinued hipthong / highthong. I hoped this would be my new favorite. The straps pull my toes unnaturally away from each other and the cross isnāt high enough on the foot to be fully secure.
Comfortable and stylish
The Chaco Womenās Tegu 30th Anniversary Sandals are comfortable and quite stylish. They are somewhat similar to flip flops but look a whole lot nicer. They are very attractive. The material which comes into contact with the bottoms of my feet does allow my feet to slip if I walk too fast. I find I need to step carefully to prevent my feet from slipping out of the sandals, even after trying to adjust the straps. It would be nice if the foot pad had a bit more cushion. The sandals are comfortable for a few hours but I am not sure if I could wear them all day. I would be nervous wearing them on uneven ground such as grass or a hiking trail. The sandals are very nice. Thank you for inviting me to wear and review The Tegu 30th Anniversary Sandals.
Meh
These sandals were just...meh. Arch support is great, very comfortable to stand on. However they are very bulky. The sole could be half as thin. I also felt like my feet really had to work while walking to keep these on, so they got tired pretty quick. I wear flip flops a lot without having that feeling so I think it is specific to these shoes. The strap didn't give me blisters, but did make my toes pretty red quickly, and I probably would've gotten a decent blister had I kept them on longer. Looks wise, I thought they would look way better if it weren't for the dumb white bottom when the rest of the shoe was black. Otherwise it could've passed for a decent looking sandal. I'll stick to my O'lukai sandals and flip flops.
Slip-on and Supportive
These sandals are really great. I have been a huge fan of Chacos for their awesome arch support and these sandals are no different. The straps were easy to adjust thanks to the little diagram that came with it. The straps are wide and comfortable. I probably wouldnāt hike in these because there is no ankle strap in the back, but for around town or around the house, theyāre a really easy sandal to slip on and go.
Versatile sandal that handles everything
I received my Tegu sandals about 10 days ago and have been wearing them almost daily ever since. This new model is very supportive and even comes with a guide to help you adjust them individually to your foot. They tell you the order in which to adjust the sandals and this extremely helpful. I got them fitting like a glove and have been wearing them everywhere. Theyāre attractive for around town errands but they really shine on the trail. Iāve done some long and even steep hikes in the Boulder Colorado foothills. My feet do not slip up and down hills and the sandals provide great traction on wet rocks and mud. (It is mud season in the local mountains!). If sandals do get wet with stream crossings, they dry quickly. These sandals move with you and provide great arch support so your feet wonāt be tired after several miles. I love the black color as they look sharp. They will be my go to sandals this summer. Thank you REI!
Just OK
Like others, I really wanted to like this product. I have been in love with my Chaco flip flops (multiple pairs) for years. First the pros - they are lightweight and have good arch support. The straps are adjustable, though it took me some time to get them adjusted, and I'm still not sure they are quite right - not as easy to adjust as I would have hoped. These would be good for around town, when only walking short-ish distances. I wore them around town, both on paved surfaces, and on short dirt and gravel trails. Now for the cons - I felt like my foot really wanted to slip out the back...this seemed significantly worse on the trails I did, and up hills. I even felt like I really cinched the straps down tight. As tight as the straps were, I never got a blister, so there's that. I am a flip flop wearer and felt like my flip flops stay on 100% better than these...can't say I'd recommend them - happy to switch back into my flip flops!
More Comfortable Than Expected
I am happy to finally have a pair of Chacos as I was resistant to buying them as they looked uncomfortable as I have bunions. They were surprisingly comfortable due to their adjustable straps and amazing arch support. And being both waterproof and lightweight are additional bonuses. I will definitely buy more Chacos in the future!
