Cheap new strap material makes them unwearable
As a heads up to other long time Chaco wearers, they've changed the strap material, and it is awful. It has no flex or stretch, and it chafes enough that after only a couple miles of walking, I was bleeding on the top of my foot. I did ask customer service, it is not in my head - the strap material changed recently. I've tried for a month to see if they would soften up, and even wearing them 10 minutes sitting down they hurt. If you're a new (potential) chaco wearer, my last pairs I could take out of the box, walk for 15 miles, and be perfectly comfortable, which I did the last pair I bought. So this is really awful.
I love my Chaco sandals!
I have plantar fasciitis. The only sandals I can wear are the Chaco. I have several in different colors and styles.
2nd pair, but LOVE this style.
Bought a pair used from the re store part of REI. They had a double toe strap. I hated how they rubbed my big toe. Donated them to Goodwill. I got this style on clearance from REI new (for the same price as used) and this style is much much better. Doesnt rub my big toe like the last style did. I plan to wear these for at least 20 years :) Moral of the story, I basically paid full price, but I am very happy the 2nd pair worked out. Hope this helps someone avoid the same issues..
Great Sandals!
I've been a long time fan of Chaco Flip Flops thanks to their great arch support and longevity. I recently transitioned over to wearing Chaco Sandals as they offer even more support and actually like the Sandals better than the Flip Flops! Once you adjust the straps to your liking, the sandals are easy to slip on and go. This is my second pair and have been very pleased with the support and comfort that they provide.
Difficult to adjust straps
I was trying to replace my very old Chacos. With the new ones, there is no way to adjust/tighten the back straps, so I couldn't keep them on my feet. I returned them.
Outstanding and a foot saver!
I LOVE these sandals. Prior to them, my plantar fasciitis was like someone taking a razor to my feet. The firm but flexible soles combined with the arch support had my feet completely pain free after 4 weeks of wearing nothing but them. The single adjustable strap makes them comfortable with or without socks. I’ve only worn them on trail a little as I had surgery but….yes, I’m hooked! I’m thru-hiking the AT in 2026 and these will probably be my primary shoes.
I love Chacos
I have been wearing and gluing back together the same pair of Chacos for nearly 15 years. YES! they are still in great shape after a dab of super glue here and there. But when I saw the price of new ones, I couldn't control myself. They arrived speedily and fit perfectly.
Adjuster strap is too long and drags on ground.
The strap is so long that when I adjust the sandals correctly the end of the tag drags on the ground, and ultimately was a dealbreaker for me. This is too bad because my previous pair lasted me 16 years and the strap did not drag on the ground.
Love these sandals
Love these sandals! It’s my 2nd pair- I was going to get the first pair re-strapped, but with a (last minute) trip to Thailand coming up I didn’t think I’d get them back in time so bought a 2nd pair. No time to break in pre-trip and once again they’ve been amazing. Haven’t left my feet in weeks, not since I got off the airplane in Bangkok. Great in the city, on the beach, and for hiking. Easy on/off for entering temples and homes.
Wanted to love them, not sure I like them
Have always wanted Chaco sandals but I am finding the canvas like straps uncomfortable. I have altered the fit many times but still feel the straps are uncomfortable. I'd prefer some padding where the straps hit the edges of my forefoot. I like the sole's though. Good arch support for walking long distances.
