Sizing Notes
For boots: Add one half size to your street shoe size. You should be able to slip one finger behind your heel when you are standing up with the boot unlaced and your toes touching the front. If the boot is too short, your toes will get smashed walking downhill. Too long and your heel will slide up and down and give you blisters.

Comfortable but not durable
These shoes are extremely comfortable and provide excellent support. I used them in my job which involves a lot of rough terrain and lifting heavy loads and was happy with them. Unfortunately after 4 months of heavy use they have started to develop a hole where the ball of my foot bends it. It’s also happened to a coworker who has the men’s version in the same place. This has started to affect the waterproofing in that area as well. So really wanted to like them but if they do this under normal wear and not just to me I’m going to see about returning them.
Fast and Light
I’ve climbed winter alpine routes, several volcanos, and ice climbed in these bad girls. Idk what everyone else is using them for, but if you do long approaches, need boots that can send 5.6/.7, and can take a hybrid crampon these are the ones. I did a Pickets trip two years ago and both guides used (and swore by) these boots. I picked them up and have zero buyers remorse. Yes you compromise durability in an ultralight boot, but mine have a season in the Cascades San Juan County, and the alps and no worse for the wear comprares to what I would expect.
Great all around hiking boots for all seasons.
I have used these boots for about four years now; they are versatile boots for hiking in summer and winter and seasons in between, at least in the Adirondacks and other parts of Upstate NY. I've worn the boots down to -20 and my feet stayed warm which is not an easy feat given that I have Raynaud's disease (poor circulation). Additionally, the boots are waterproof evidenced by the many wet/flooded trails I have successfully hiked thru without issue. The boot runs narrow and is low volume.
Ok
I bought it full price and wore it for one spring/season. I used it almost twice a week. The rubber was great but wore down quickly. I was walking in a lot of scree for a lot of the summer, but I would have hoped for more durable rubber for the price and brand. I thought the ankle support could be improved but I do have skinny ankles and a low volume foot. Better ankle support would have provided more confidence on icy terrain when crampon-ing. The fit was ok for wide feet-manageable. If you have normal or narrow feet, I imagine this would be comfortable for you.
Really comfortable, but poor durability
I bought these a year ago for low angle glacier/ice travel and winter hiking. They've been really good, but after <200 miles cracks are forming at the edges. Looks from the pictures like this has happened to at least one other buyer. I'll probably replace them because the fit was so great, but for the cost it's disappointing they wouldn't make it to 300 or 400 miles.
Entry Level Mountaineering Boot
I have worn these snowshoeing 2x’s now and absolutely love them. They keep my feet dry, well supported and warm with a liner & Darn Tough socks. I had a little heel rub 2nd time out, but that could of been sock related. I normally wear a 9.5 in a hiking boot, but bought the 10 in these.
Light but narrow
I appreciate how light weight these boots are yet my feet still stay warm. I’ve done every WA volcano in these boots to really test them out. They unfortunately, are very narrow. My feet typically hurt within a miles of putting these on but I wanted to really give them a fair chance since I really appreciated the weight/warmth. I decided they’re just not for me ultimately. I think if you have more narrow feet and don’t need a wide toe box these would be perfect for PNW alpine adventures.
Not a hybrid shoe, but it's good.
When I am scrambling up mountaineering routes, most of them do not have snow and do not require crampons. These shoes claim to be a hybrid, but I think they are too much for non-snow ascents. They are super stiff, which is great in the snow but not necessary when scrambling. The rubber is great, but if you're not doing snow ascents, you can wear some approach shoes; at least, that is what I will be doing.
Be careful
I bought this last week with the goal to hike a 14’er via a class 3 ridge ( involved minute climbing ).. These shoes did not offer support on my soles, they did not offer support around my ankles. They also were slipping against the rock in the few areas I did climb. It’s a nice shoe for tiny hikes and your commute to work in the snow. But for the price, I was thoroughly disappointed.
Good in most qualities except fit
Last year and this year, I’ve been on an mountaineering boot hunt. I started with these. I’ve never had this problem in any other shoe, but these. My toes get super crammed! This boots cut off circulation to my pinky toe and that was it, time to try a different brand. P.S. If shopping for women's mountaineering boots, I would start with Lowa’s!
