Size is true, bummed it didnt fit due to reading reviews advising to buy a size up
Coat looks comfortable, but I wouldn't know. I read the reviews of many people saying to go w a size up for this coat, so I did...that was a bad choice. If you are honest about your size and what fits you, this should fit ...if you are wearing a size that is tight on you, and you try to buy the same size coat...it most likely will not fit. As for this coat i typically wear a large coat, i bought an xl and it was way too big. I tried to return it, but go figure, no stores carry this coat so I had to swap for a different coat. Very bummed I could not reorder this coat in a size that would fit for a quick swap out at the store.
Pike Lake/Omniheat ROCK!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Awesome jacket. Lightweight but incredibly efficient at keeping me warm yet, not overwhelming. Omni Heat feature is out of this world. Yet to experience condensation inside jacket when temperatures flux.
perfect jacket
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] high quality, nice looking, slightly large, I bought it for my son and have to change to a smaller size
Ginormous
I wear some jackets L, some XL, bought this one online in XL size and it is huge - feels like XXL, if not XXXL. The jacket itself seems to be of a high quality, it must be pretty warm, it has that silver infrared reflective material inside. If you're into backpacking and aim for minimum weight and packability, this one may not be for you - it is certainly lighter than any casual jacket, especially given the amount of warmth it must be providing, but in the category of jackets for hiking, this one is likely amongst the heavier ones. I'm returning the one I ordered for it's size for sure, but I think I won't try another size as I found the jacket that's a better fit for what I was looking for. Give it a try, but probably order 1 size less if ordering online.
Minnesota Tested
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased the jacket to be worn on non-snow/rain days. I did not want a down-filled product for personal reasons. The jacket itself is thicker and a little more bulky than a Turbo-Down style jacket. It is not a snug, close-to-body feel but this allows more layering and is not a personal concern. The drawcord adjustable hem allows a snug-fit and the sleeves have binding which prevents drafts. I have worn the jacket with a fleece top in minus degree weather (Polar Vortex) and had zero complaints about warmth. We relocated to Minnesota this past June after living in So CA for over 60 years (grandchildren) so I am sensitive about keeping warm. I enjoy the jacket as a compliment to other Columbia products I own. I am 5-11, 205 with an athletic build and the large was a perfect fit.
Wonderful jacket. Bring back the hooded version!
I have two of these jackets, one small and the other medium. I consider the hooded version to be one of the best winter coats out there - astonishingly (I mean that) warm and well-fitting. In my quest to find a truly warm jacket, I bought quite a few coats from different brands and tried on a lot more. Not one of them combines comfort and heavy insulation like the PL does. Get your act together and bring back the hooded version.
Perfect gift for a very picky husband
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband has gone multiple winters just layering fleeces because he could not find the perfect winter jacket. He is 6’4, has long arms, and is very particular about fit, comfort and color. To be honest, as a gift, I was prepared to send it back. From the first time trying it on, he has loved it. Each time since, he has told me how much he loves it. Win/win in my book! It does run slightly large, so the large fits his frame well.
Great jacket but runs a bit large.
I started with a medium which seems like my size for most jackets, but it was too large so I got a small and it fits greats (I'm 5'9.5" & 137 lbs). Jacket seems pretty warm, but haven't really tested it in very cold temps (only down to 50-ish F). So besides a few loose threads and running a bit on the large side, I really like it so far.
Way to big
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] 1. It is cut for a big guy/ it’s also longish 2. This jacket is 4 inches too wide and ridiculously too large / much wider than a similar Columbia jacket ; the medium measured 24-25 inches across - which would mean a 48 inch chest/ but it’s labeled as being sized for a 38” chest ; order one full size down
TOO BIG
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I BOUGHT SIZE MEDIUM AND IT WAS TOO BIG. I ORDERED IT ONLINE AND RETURNED IT AT A COLUMBIA STORE. I HAVE THE COLUMBIA RAPID EXCURSION JACKET AS WELL AS OTHER JACKETS FROM COLUMBIA ALL IN SIZE MEDIUM AND I LIKE THE THEY ALL FIT. THE BRAND SIZING IS NOT CONSISTENT, SOMETIMES SIZE MEDIUM RUNS BIG.
