Great middleweight jacket but one thing to note

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this jacket about a year ago and still quite happy with my purchase. I purchased the small and as a 5' 6" guy it goes down to my upper thighs. Nice and warm. A good middle between a lightweight and a heavyweight jacket. Perfect for being out in the rain, wind, or light snow. The only problem is the right side Velcro can rub on the sleeve if you're wearing the jacket unzipped. Within a couple months I was noticing the inner side of my right sleeve becoming frayed and losing the waterproofness. Since I noticed, I've been careful about not brushing my right arm against the Velcro but it's only the inside of the arm which usually doesn't need much waterproofing anyways but just something to be aware of.

soliticticted promotional reviews

First, I’ve always been so dependent on the reliability of reviews REI Second, the reviews certainly did match the quality of the jacket when I received it. In my past experience when the reviews were rated high the products were exceptional. Third, when I realized the reviews I read didn’t match the quality - I went back and read them again Lastly, this is the first time and the only time I’ve ever seen REI use solicited promotional reviews, and I was so shocked and disturbed about how much REI has changed the trail corporate marketing strategies.

All great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] During cold winter. I have made a perfect choice. Compare to other brands Columbia is affordable and far beyond better than other brands. If anyone wants this jacket I must say go on. No regrets at all. Perfectly build.

Dependable and Comfortable Jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently purchased the Columbia Men’s Hikebound II Insulated Jacket, and I couldn’t be happier with it. The waterproofing is excellent—just as advertised, it kept me completely dry during several rainy hikes. The insulation is also impressive, keeping me warm and comfortable without feeling bulky. I love that it’s lightweight yet durable, and the fit allows for easy layering if needed. Overall, it’s a reliable jacket that performs exactly as promised. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a dependable waterproof and warm hiking jacket.

Good Jacket, but Early Velcro Abrasion Issue

I’ve only had this jacket for about a month and I’m already experiencing the same issue that a previous reviewer mentioned. When worn unzipped, the right-side Velcro rubs against the inside of the right sleeve, and I’ve started noticing early fraying and wear in that area, which could affect waterproofing over time. Otherwise, the jacket fits well, feels warm without being bulky, and performs great in rain and wind — just something important to be aware of.

5 STAR JACKET

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket is perfect...It's warm, waterproof, and windproof. It both fits & looks great. It's really comfortable and lightweight. I can wear it over bulky sweatshirts with no issues. The hood is a really nice feature & the neck zips up really high blocking out the wind. The zippered chest pocket is perfect for your phone and the zippered hand pockets and perfect as well. This jacket was exactly what I expected it to be when it arrived. I recommend this jacket hands down.

Better than I thought

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The jacket is a great length, and is warmer than I thought it would be. Being in Michigan I needed something to keep me warm shoveling snow, or just going out that still looked good. I take my dogs for walks and good pocket depth for phone. Being pretty cost effective I think it's worth getting.

Great Jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Has instant warmth. I tried on in home and was getting hot instantly. Couldn't keep on long. I ordered the large. Had a LT but was too long. The large has extra room but can be adjusted with drawstrings for a tighter fit. I'm 6 ft. 175. The material is nice inside and out.
