WARNING!!! PRODUCT FAILURE!!! RISK OF DEATH!!!

I have four boards. Two have FCS leashes. Two have other brands. The FCS leashes are about four years old. The other leashes are older. I always store my boards in a covered area and I put SUP covers on my boards. The leashes were only exposed to UV rays while paddling. Both of my FCS leashes are disintegrating. The plastic coiled part of the leash is laying on the floor of the garage in tiny pieces. When you pick the pieces up they look new, no cuts, no damage, then you pull on the piece and it breaks with about one pound of force. It reminds me of finding a really old rubber band and it looks good but crumbles when you stretch it. It's winter now so the last time I used the leash was two months ago and it was solid. Now, it's laying on the ground in pieces. No excessive UV exposure, just normal use, never stored in the sun. No rodents, lawn mower, fin cuts, etc. No excessive force. No exposure to ozone or electrical fields. No exposure to chemicals, oils, sunscreen, etc. We paddle out on the Puget Sound. The water is cold year round. There can be wind and currents. We often paddle solo. We are often a couple hundred yards from shore. We go away from the crowds so usually no one is around to rescue us. LEASHES ARE AN ESSENTIAL SAFETY ITEM. SUP DROWNINGS DUE TO NOT HAVING A LEASH HAPPEN EVERY SUMMER IN THIS AREA. THESE LEASHES FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. Our Dakine leash is twice as old and still going strong. Why risk your life with an FCS leash.
