My first trip with this bag was to Charlies bunion on the A/T, and I am really glad I got it. The AG suspension system truly work, it hugs your body and really makes it feel like the pack is secure and stable, even when loaded to the max. Since my first trip was a relatively short one I took a lot of stuff to sleep comfortably and eat well. I weighed the pack before we left and it was right under 40lbs and was stuffed full, the seams zippers and all the straps held up well and have continued to do so with other trips. The bag has plenty of pockets to easily organize all of the small stuff you want to keep handy, and the adjust-ability of the shoulder straps hip straps and and torso length really give you the ability to make this pack fit perfect. The mesh backing for the suspension really lets the air flow and stop you from sweating on a long trip.
Love this pack! It has great access to all compartments and the mesh on the back keeps it from sticking to you/making you sweat more than necessary. Good amount of space without being too huge. Straps are comfortable and the bag sits well once fitted. Definitely want to buy a rain cover, though! Osprey Large Pack Raincover fits this bag nicely!
I am a scout with BSA and have used this for 2 years. Love this pack and its comfort. Very adjustable with easy to reach water pouch.
Formerly I used a Gregory "Diva 60" with men's straps (a good fix - thanks Gary at Berkeley REI) which is a good pack and has important features that are hard to find in Osprey packs for backpacking, including ample side pockets and main bag access via the middle or lower portion. But it doesn't have the same suspension system. Using the Osprey "Atmos 65" under a full load, without a shirt on a hot day with an occasional 5 mph breeze, I realized I could actually feel the cooling breeze between my back and the pack. It was nice! In California, despite lots of recent local rain, the drought is still a serious issue, and high temps started in February this year (2018). I'm expecting the aeration provided by this pack to mitigate fatigue. And the suspension straps are soft, so they lay almost flush to my assymetrical shoulders, which has been hard if not impossible to find on other packs. All the Gregory backpacking packs have harder straps and belts, which on my frame gets uncomfortable without a shirt.
