Did not expect it to snow two feet that night. Got in late. Had a nice fire. Was about 25 degrees - expecting 5 low. Woke up to the tent looking like an igloo. Tapped off the snow to prevent saturation. Tent did not seep any moisture at all. Did not even sag under a load of snow. Tent was warm-even with the amount of mesh. Getting the pole ends in the sleeves the first time is tight. If the pegs hit anything harder than mild clay, they will bend like a slinky. Cold dirt will destroy them.
I almost did not buy this tent because there were so few reviews so I thought I'd add one now that I've used it a few times. It's not the lightest tent out there so if you're trying to go backpacking, I'd recommend something else. For car camping it's been phenomenal. I haven't gone camping nor pitched a tent at all for a decade and a half (and when I last did so, I was a child) and I was able to set it up with minimal issues. Personally I recommend putting the poles together starting in the center hub and working outwards, but taking them apart the opposite way in order to keep the poles from snapping back together on you. It took me a second to figure out the roll-back fly feature (I had never seen the loop and strap system this tent uses, and there were no instructions on this particular feature like how to loop the straps to the pole system but that could be totally normal and I'd have no idea). I recommend watching the how-to-set-up video if you're feeling a little anxious. I've gotten rained on once and it stayed dry, no condensation any of the times I've used it either. It's also good to pitch without the fly and just enjoy being outside without fear of bugs since the tent is almost entirely mesh so you can see your surroundings quite well, which is a big reason I picked this over the Marmot Limelight. Nice that it comes with a footprint, and I love the color. The headlamp loft is nice too.
This is a very well designed tent. Set up is almost intuitive. One caveat: if you sleep in anything bigger than a small double bed at home, spend the money and get the 3 person. We originally ordered the 2 person but when we set it up at home, it was really small. We returned it for the 3 person and are very glad we did. BTW that little piece of pipe included is a tent pole splint in case you have a tent pole mishap in the field. I had to go to the FAQs on the Nemo website to find that out.
I bought this tent after reviewing 14 others. It is one of the most thought out designs I have ever seen. Easy to set up and take down. Lots of storage spots for all those little things you might need at night. And the best rain fly ever. Kept us dry in a driving rainstorm. We are two average size adults. We originally bought the Galaxi-2, but immediately exchanged it for the Galaxi-3, as it was a little small for our needs.
Haven't had a chance to use it yet but I am sure we won't be disappointed with it. Did a lot a research first and the Nemo 3P Galaxi came out on top.
