This tent held up well through rain and high winds. Materials seem strong and durable. Set up is super easy with two people, and manageable with one. Personally, I found this tent to have great ventilation even on a warm day. At a bit above 5 lbs., this tent is on the heavy side, but the weight was not enough to bother me in my pack. They sell an extra gear loft attachment, but I didn't find I needed one with four interior pockets. Also, it was great to not have to add on $35-50 to the cost for a footprint. I did a lot research and comparing, then talked talked to a salesman at my local REI and settled on this tent; I am so glad I did.
Originally purchased this for our daughter for scouts. Very easy to transport and setup and take down are a breeze. This is the only tent I’ve ever been able to put back in its original bag without any issue. My son and I used it this weekend for a cub scouting event. We had plenty of room for our Osprey Daylight packs, 2 REI sleeping pads, and sleeping bags. It is big enough for me to change in comfortably (in and out of swimsuits, uniforms, etc). The light diffusing headlamp storage is a huge plus. We stored all of our extra gear in a tote under the rainfly outside on one side of the tent, along with our shoes and a full-sized camp chair on top of the tote. Last night, we experienced a torrential downpour off and on for several hours. While other campers where getting wet, we were perfectly dry, and so was our gear outside of the tent under the rainfly. If this tent could survive that storm, it could withstand almost anything. Highly recommend!!
I bought this recently when it was on sale for $150. I needed a decent summer tent with plenty of ventilation. For the price, this is an excellent value, especially since it includes a footprint. It's probably not ideal for backpacking given the weight, but for car camping it's great. It's very roomy for two people and sets up fast and easy. Plus, if you're in a spot where you can see a lot of stars you will know why they call it the Galaxi. Just leave the rainfly off (weather permitting) and fall asleep whilst looking up at the night sky for an awesome light show. I will be considering more Nemo products based on a job well done on these tents.
This tent won’t be winning any points with an ultralight hiker at over 5lbs but with what minimal gear I carry and saving weight in other areas I absolutely love this tent. Finally a tent that blends in a bit to the surroundings and doesn’t scream out I’m here. I have the canyon version and couldn’t be happier. It is insanely fast to set up. The vestibules are spacious. It is a true two person tent, or with a dog (paw print) add on is amazing! This has held up in thunderstorms, snow, heavy winds, and very rare is there ever a damp condensation inside this tent. The materials are very sturdy, it’s seam sealed and everything works phenomenally. It exceeded my expectations and is worth the weight if you’re a tent person.
I've had this tent for about a year and a half now, and mostly have used it in mild weather. I've enjoyed the fact that the fly rolls back for a skyview, the easy setup and takedown, the roomy design, and the attention to detail that results in a lot of conveniences. I've absolutely fallen in love! But last weekend was the real test... and, boy, did it prove its worth!!! A combination of sub-freezing temperatures, fairly strong winds, high humidity, rain, sleet, and a few inches of heavy, wet snow were no match for this thing! It stayed bone dry, nothing came loose, moved out of place, or collapsed, and I slept like a baby! By now, I've purchased a few Nemo products and have been impressed with the quality and durability but I can't say enough good things about this tent.
I’m writing this review after using this tent for 3 years. It has held up beautifully. Keeps you dry and warm (with the fly on). We’ve taken it on backcountry trips in Yosemite and car camping trips to the beach and mountains. Sleeps two comfortably. The weight did not bother us on our backpacking trips. The stakes are flimsy because they are very lightweight, but I can use them anyway. You won’t find a better tent for the money.
Spend 4 months in this tent in the White River national Forest land in Colorado in 2014. Left the tent up all summer as I adventurered all across the neighboring mountains. It withstood the elements and wanted more. Took it to Oahu and slept in it about every other weekend on different beaches across the island for 3 years. Can't wait for what's next with this tent. It has been through a lot and is still in great shape. Best tent I've ever had. Glad the bears in Colorado didn't destroy it.
Absolutely love this tent. Fits nice and cozy for two average size humans. Added gear/item compartments on the side of the tents and the ambient headlamp storage area is a nice plus (kind of standard among most tents in this category). Another review stated that they wished the tent had vents. It does. They're sort of hidden in the rainfly and the vents prop up when you need them to via a "stick". The vestibule clears my Osprey 70L pack and allows me to get out without shifting anything for those "I REALLY NEED TO GO" situations. I LOVE the single pole/hub design. Makes setting it up solo extremely easy. Some cons are that the included tent stakes are garbage; they bend quite easily. The weird oblong shape of the tent, mostly the rainfly, makes it annoying to pack up the tent. Especially if you're kinda OCD. TLDR; 10/10 would recommend. tent stakes suck.
Needed to pick up a tent that was slightly larger than my 1-person, and easier to set-up and break down than my 4-person. I ended up scooping the Galaxi 2 from REI about 5 days before a trip and I couldn't be happier. Setup is a snap. The rain fly rolls back for tons of ventilation and viewing the stars on dry nights. The fly rolls down easily and kept me and my gear nice & dry. The double-doors is a feature I didn't even know I needed until I got this tent, and I love it. Tearing down was a breeze – unclip the polls, fold them up with the hub, roll up your footprint & tent, and you're done.
Was forced to purchased this tent about 3yrs ago while taking a trip with my wife to Zion national park in 2015, due to failure of a previous tent we owned; we had to purchase a new tent as an Emergency. I've never heard of the Nemo brand and took a chance with this tent and i was instantly impressed as how light weight and how extremely fast 1 person can set it up. We put this tent through the ringer of desert heat, rainy damp cold nights and tough grounding, I've never had a issue or fails till this day, if it wasn't for our previous failed tent I would've never came across this amazing company that I now love and recommend to all my friends and family! These tents are tough and can be used by newbees or pros. Give Nemo a try and you won't be disappointed! Cheers! And see you guys and gals out there! 05/13/18
