Bombproof Lantern
I bought this a few weeks ago to take on a turkey hunting overnight trip which I would be sleeping in a hammock instead of a tent. I fell in love with the idea of this lantern because I could hang it from the ridge line of my tarp so that it would not only give me light but also keep the mosquitoes off of me during the night. I have to say it worked flawlessly! Not only that but overnight a thunderstorm rolled in and it poured on us for about 6 hours. My Lantern was outside of my tarp but the rain didn't effect it at all. I would have to say it's completely rain proof and I didn't have 1 mosquito bite all night. I'm completely satisfied!!!
It works
I've used the lantern while sitting around a fire in my yard, on my deck and while camping in the White Mtns. of NH. It works great if there is little to no breeze. While camping, I watched the other six people around the fire and didn't see anyone swatting mosquitoes. As for value, the butane does not appear to last as long as advertised, only about six hours. It could also get expensive buying the refills. Replacing pads and butane are easy. Lighting the lantern can sometimes take a lot of 'clicks' to get going, but most of the time three or four works. I won this lantern with the Lantern A Day Giveaway so I didn't have the initial cost.
Works as great as friends said it would!
Took it for the 1st time last weekend camping. We stayed deep in the woods at Dunewood Campground @ Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. When I got home Sunday night I ordered 2 more. A ThermaCELL MR-GJ Mosquito Repeller, the holster, and a ThermaCELL MR-9SB Mosquito Repellent Pest Control Outdoor and Camping Cordless Lantern. Yes! They're that good!
Super easy to use, and just the right size
I use this while Jeeping and camping. On July 4th, we took the top off the Jeep, and sat in the jeep with the lantern hanging from the middle of the roll bar. Watching the fireworks in Telluride we never saw a big in the Jeep! Made for a great night and I did not smell like bug spray!

I use the Thermacell any time I am outside when durring the bug weather. Turkey season has never been better, and Bow season is bug free too!! Also my oldest son has a real bad reaction to Mosquito, Punkies, and Noseeum bites. He never has a problem when he goes outside with the t-cell. I plan on getting another one for my youngest son this season. If you haven't tried one, move it out and do so, I know you would be satisfied. I have had the same unit for 3 years, and it works the same way it did when I first used it. Turn it on, "clikc, click, click) and no more bugs. Thanks....

If you want super bright light and keep the bugs away the camo lantern is your baby! It even has SOS if you get in trouble! Use it for fishing, tracking, working on car, skinning buck, or just showing it off to friends! It is a great product!

Over a decade ago, when ThermaCell entered the hunting and fishing market, they selected two industry professionals to test product before it hit the shelves. Often I used the Camp Lantern as two independent units, the lantern and the repellent, and both work flawlessly. Their dedication to continually improve and introduce new items, speaks a lot of the companies desire to move forward, but I use ThermaCell's products because they work, and making my living in the outdoors, failure is not an option.
I love my Thermacell... but....
I've had many portable Thermacell products and have been so impressed with how well they repel mosquitoes. My portable unit recently malfunctioned and would no longer stay lit. With a camping trip around the corner I decided to replace it with the lantern. I was so disappointed that the bottom piece that covers the batteries for the LED light falls off at barely a touch. Every time it was picked up or moved the bottom fell off. The repellent works as great as ever but the product design is really disappointing and frustrating to use. Please work on a new design!

This is the 2nd lantern I have purchased. The first one is for camping and the 2nd is for home use. We were spending an average of 1.5 months at a time of camping in the woods and were getting beat up by mosquitoes until we purchased a lantern. After that, it was a rare event to get bitten. It made sense to buy another for home use. The mosquitoes are not as bad at home, but why deal with them at all when the lantern can take care of things for you! The only ask I have is to have it notify you when its time to replace the pad. I am not good with that on my own.
This product really met my expectations!
I am always skeptical over product I have not used before especially when it comes to mosquito's. I live in Minnesota and the mosquitos are horrible this time of year. I purchased two Thermacell lanterns, and the first time I used one, I was totally amazed. You could actually see the mosquito's hit a wall about ten to fifteen feet from where I was sitting. I sat there for almost two hours without one mosquito coming near me. I'm now convinced this product really works and makes sitting outside at night very enjoyable. I'm going to buy more as gifts for my friends!
