runs small and does not fit well

I was hoping that this would perform like all of the other OR Products that I have purchased over the years, but it is a poor design and not well made. The velcro in the back gets stuck in my hair, and the M size was way too small to not have it on the very end of the velcro to fit on my head. The edges of the band curl in and cause the band to bunch up around my ears. It is not comfortable. I don't know how it works in the wind since it is too uncomfortable to wear. I will be returning it.

Best for blocking wind

The wind bothers my ears and gives me ear aches and most hats/headbands offer warmth but don’t cut the wind. Except for the OR headbands. I’ve had a few pairs now, stashed in the car, coat pockets, bags etc but this model is the most “blocking”. The adjustable back allows for a perfect fit. No wind gets into my ears and it layers nicely under my favourite hats if I want more warmth. This model blocks air and therefore some sound transmission too. At times I love this (overstimulated moments) and other times it bugs me (walking alone and wanting to have all my senses working at peak performance). I ordered 3 this time, another for myself and 2 for friends.

Perfect for winter in Alaska

As someone who lives in Alaska and hates hats, this ear band is the perfect solution. The Velcro in the back allows me to adjust to fit loosely but securely on my head. The shape perfectly cuffs your ears and keeps them warm. I wear mine every day in the winter, down to -30. I actually lost the first one I bought, and I replaced it with two more so I will never go without. Of note- SIZE UP! I don't like my headbands to squeeze my head, and I bought a large and it is still on the furthest end of the Velcro. It is still secure, but I am a woman without a large head and the largest size was perfect for a loose but secure fit.

Great product

Bought one for my wife & 1 for myself. She likes the Velcro closure at the back so she can put it on easily with her hair up in a bun. I was concerned buying this online sight unseen, but Outdoor Research never disipoints. I have lots of OR gear and my main worry was how it might effect hearing. This is not expedition gear so the material is not heavy enough to cause problems hearing. For keeping the wind out of your ears it works great. It's so compact there is no reason not to carry it. Makes a good layer under a wool hat for skiing. I put it in the top of my hat when I get hot & sitting on the lift that layer is nice.

Adjustable and warm

This ear band does a nice job of keeping my ears warm while walking and hiking without letting me become overheated. It snugs up well to keep out cold and wind, while the Velcro closure allows you to make adjustments easily. Because of this, they comfortably fit on my ears while using Bluetooth earbuds. I like having something warm to cover my ears so I can wear a ball cap but ear muffs always impact earbuds and eventually become uncomfortable on my head and ears. This ear band stays comfortable for a long time. I do think that Medium seems a bit small; it's nice that you can snug it up tightly when you have a smaller head, but think about going larger if you have a bigger noggin.

One of many OR earbands I own-best solution for hotheads

I've got OR headbands stashed in many jackets and packs. I'm one of those guys that overheats while hiking, xc skiing or snowshoeing almost before I leave the parking lot. But as like today (5 degrees F with winds blowing) I needed something to replace my OR full hat once I got moving. OR earbands stay put and don't creep all over your head and are soft against your forehead. The Velcro is of high grade stock. I find they allow me to regulate my heat generation perfectly. Sleek enough too so that you can wear under some baseball hats if they are adjustable.

BEST EARBAND EVER!

I wear mine everyday from October through April. I have a very active life including caring for our country home, homeschooling four children, and photographing outdoors. I photograph outdoor scenes mainly in fall, winter and spring, so great gear is a must. I often experience migraines- I have had a few neck injuries and my favorite feature of this ear band is the velcro closure! I can take it off or put it on quickly and I can adjust the fit by adjusting the velcro closure. (I have long hair that I do have to move out of the way, but such a small thing for this perfect earband which keeps my ears and forehead warm in -30 temps.) The Minnesota wind is stopped by this ear band keeping me comfortable to I can accomplish about anything I need to!

I would buy this item again!

I first purchased this ear band about 4 years ago, and absolutely loved it! Unfortunately I lost it sometime this past winter. I was pleasantly pleased to see it was on sale so had to purchase it again! by far the best ear band that I have had. It is so comfortable to wear and with the adjustable Velcro tab, I can adapt it to wear depending how I am wearing my hair - braids, or pony tail or just straight.

Perfect for outdoor sports and everyday use!

I love this headband. The velcro feature is fantastic! Easy on/off. I don't have to worry about static-y long hair in my face like I do with other headbands when sliding on and off over my head/hair. This headband is fantastic for wind protection, too. (I ordered a medium and am an adult female with a bigger head. I'm at the tail end of the velcro closure but still glad I got the medium).

I would buy this product again and again!

This ear band is amazing! I have sensitive ears so I always dread doing anything in the wind. I have been using this ear band for several weeks of walking, jogging, and rollerblading outside (including warmer weather) and it works perfectly! It makes such a huge difference, especially when it is really windy. I feel like I can actually go outside and enjoy myself now!
