I got these as a Christmas gift and have been running in them for 6 mos. averaging 3.5 miles a run. I don't have pain like I used to with other running shoes. I find these shoes very comfortable as I wear them in the hospital too. they don't feel worn out by any means. This is also a great shoe bc it is neutral with cushion, which I love. I can't speak for previous versions but these are my running shoes. As long as I can find them in stores and online, I'll continue to buy them as I need to. one other thing to add is i went .5 size up, and what a difference that makes
So, I’ve ran two marathons and have typically worn Adidas or New Balance and this was the first time in 8 years of long distance running that I took the chance and bought a higher-end running shoe- it made an huge difference!!! I have no knee pain, like I did with my other brands (thought it was just pain from getting older). It makes running on dirt or loose gravel like nothing. It has a lot of cushioning which it really important to me and a wide toe box as I have wider feet. I love the arch support (its feels perfect, not too high, not too low)- everyone is different but I’ve never had a more comfortable and lightweight running shoe. I’ve put about 45 miles on them so far and I am going to stick with these from now on. :-)
I didn't buy these for running, but they may become part of that. I stand at work forty hours a week on concrete. I've long been looking for a shoe for such work, and my feet have three medical conditions, so comfort and stability together would be optimal. Those were met in the Hoka One. They're so comfortable, much better than a $350.00 pair bought elsewhere. Yet stable. They come in wide sizes! My only and minor complaint is that they squeak—a lot.
As a woman with “splayed” toes due to a medical condition it is very difficult to find shoes that are wide enough and comfortable... let alone a shoe I can walk in for a long time. A friend recommended Hokas - I ordered the men’s wide (same size as my hiking boots) and am beyond thrilled that they fit, are comfortable and I can wear them for many hours!!!! Not the intended “Hoka use” I am sure but they fit the bill for me and I am forever grateful!!!
I used to enjoy running for fitness during high school and college. Had to give it up during my 20’s due to recurring pain in my hip joint and IT band. Thanks to the Clifton 4’s soft cushion footbed and sole, I’ve been able to resume fitness running again for the first time in years. I haven’t had the running ailments that I experienced years ago...even though I was wearing good quality running shoes back then. I credit this shoe’s design with helping me integrate running back into my fitness regimen. As an over 40’s runner who needs consistent cardio, it’s great to be able to jog again. Many thanks to the REI footwear rep who educated me on this shoe. I had never heard of the HOKA ONE ONE brand before. This is the most comfortable and supportive running shoe I’ve ever worn. I will definitely buy Cliftons again when I need to replace my current pair.
They took the toe box from a big toe leaning point to a dead center point. The sole is now completely bowed. If you press on the toe while the shoe is sitting flat it will rock and keep rocking. This is great if you are a heel striker - horrible for neutral or fore foot landings. The heel cup is narrower. The only positives are that it is the best looking Clifton yet and the new fabric is really nice.
I ran in Clifton 1 and 2 then tried the Clayton's because of slightly less weight. Tried the Clifton 4 and was very impressed. The slight increase in weight seems to have been related to the cushioning and the upper is thin smooth and attractive. This shoe is true to the heart of the Hoka soul of a light but well cushioned running shoe. This shoe is a fine balance between firmness and cushion.
These are great cushioned shoes for long runs. Nike and Asics shoes that I have relied on forever keep drastically changing their designs and dont seem to work for me anymore. I have 2 different styles of the Hoka shoes now and both are fantastic. I am a larger than average runner (6'0", 215 lbs) and these are very comfortable yet still responsive. Hope they dont change too much.
I recently had ankle fusion surgery, and as part of my recovery, my surgeon recommended rocker soled shoes. After trying several different makes and fits, these fit the best and make for a very comfortable all day shoe, and have been proven to be the answer. Others I tried either seemed to roll side to side, hurt my arch, or just didn’t feel stable. I’m a fan!
I've asked the guy at the store for a good sturdy but yet cushioned shoes for trail hiking, I've been advised these shoes. After less than a month the sole looks pretty banged with heavy signs of wear and the sole parted from the body of the shoe (on both shoes!) These shoes might be great for road use, don't know - the sales person mislead me.
