Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible Shoe DO NOT PURCHASE THIS SHOE!!! I have worn Hoka Constant, Vanquish and Vanquish 2 and all were great shoes. I read reviews of the Bondi 4 and people were saying it was a great road shoe, so I decided to try the all new Bondi 5. All I can say is FAIL!! This shoe is stiff and i am pretty sure a wooden board has more cushioning. If you want the well known Hoka cushion ride that is springy and comfortable, do not purchase this shoe. I put it on, wore it for one 5 mile run and not only did my knees and feet hurt, my achilles tendon was sore for 3 days. Whatever Hoka did from the Bondi 4 (that everyone raved about) to the Bondi 5 did not work at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I would not recommend Bondi 5 at all I have been using Hoka's for many years. They make great shoes. I changed my shoes every 4 months. My previous shoe was bondi 4. I went to bondi 5 and started having ankle pain. I tried different options like excercising my ankle, stretching etc. But the pain never went away. When I went back to my old bondi 4, the pain went away. For the biggest problems with bondi 5 are 1, cushion does not feel pillowy any more 2. Bondi 4 had great stability, but Bondi 5 stability is moved to Neutral, due to which I started to have ankle pains. I really hope that Hoka will listen to this feedback and bring back Bondi 4. They are amazing shoes

Rated 2 out of 5 by from So disappointed... Hoka totally changed the cushioning from the Bondi 4. There is a colored portion at the top of the midsole that is not soft and it makes the shoe way too firm...a total difference from the Bondi 4. My estimate is the Bondi 5 feels at least 50% more firm...definitely not what I'm looking for. If you're looking for that legendary maximum cushioning look elsewhere. Since this is the only model Hoka makes in a wide version, this is my only option. The Bondi 4 literally changed my life which is why I'm so disappointed in the Bondi 5. Hoka, PLEASE change the shoe back or make other models in wide versions.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not durable I got these based on a strong recommendation from a running shoe fitter at a running store. I have a hard time finding shoes that work because of my wider feet and high arch. They are bulky but the do fit true to size. Unfortunately, they started falling apart on the soles only a couple months into owning them and of course you can't return them for not being happy at that point. I feel that if these shoes are only going to last me a few months, give or take, they are not worth the investment. After looking through other reviews it would seem I'm not the only one who has had this problem. In addition, while they do fit true to size, they are not actually very comfortable at all.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed!. Painful shoe. Wish I had returned it. I have owned Bondis in the past and was excited about these Bondi 5s. I have been disappointed over the past year and a half as Hoka seems to be making their shoes narrower and tighter. They used to be the most comfortable shoe money could buy. I have regular width feet and have never bought a wide size. The last two pair I have bought have hurt. No matter how loosely I tied the laces, my feet became numb and hurt very badly. This is horrible. The Bondi 5 is bad about this. Here is the thing. The actual shoe is wide enough. It is the upper fabric. Hoka is making the upper fabric too small and tight. I will never buy these again. If you have a medium width D foot, these are too tight.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Returning the Bondi 5 I have been wearing only Hoka shoes (boots, trail, running) for several years now. Have had several pair of the Bondi 3's and 4's. Decided to try the Bondi 5's. I ordered the same size in the 5's as I have been wearing in my other Hoka's. I immediately found the 5's to be shorter and/or more cramped to the point that I couldn't imagine keeping them. And this was just wearing them around the house to get a feel for if I want to keep them or not. Kept rechecking to be sure I had the right size. But my left foot just felt crammed into the toe portion of the shoe and hurt just around the house. No way I would wear for a workout. Returning them. May try the next size up as I want to continue to wear Hoka's.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Stiff Shoe The Bondi 4 was my favorite running shoe ever. The Bondi 5 is my least favorite. They are extremely stiff whereas the Bondi 4 was very-well cushioned. They are really polar opposites on the cushioning spectrum. I had hoped the Bondi 5 would soften after some use, but they never did. In terms of performance, the two models do not resemble each other at all. The Bondi 5 model is a totally different shoe and should not have the same model name in my opinion. I gave up on the Bondi 5's after 100 miles. I have had good experiences with other Hoka shoes so this was very disappointing.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nothing like my beloved Bondi B I have never understood why companies will take a proven winner like the original Bondi shoe line and completely change what made it a winning product, they have taken a well made shoe with the most wonderful cushioned ride I have ever had the pleasure to walk in and turned it into a average comfortable shoe that looks like it would have that wonderful marshmallow cushioned walk but it's all just a look :-( Please quit messing with the supremely cushioned and supremely comfortable shoes that made Hoka One One so Legendary, signed, a not so happy customer.
