Columbia Quality is Non-Existent, Buy other Brands

This shirt was worn twice, once at a pool and not in the water, once at the beach in the water, and is less than 2 months old. The sleeve stitching has totally separated on one side and now coming apart on another. I have cheap no name shirts which have been used the same way for years which look like new in comparison. I should have read the reviews on this shirt more carefully as you can see this is a normal problem. Columbia is happy to keep selling poor quality, then if you submit a warranty claim, they want to charge you for shipping it back, and then decide IF its a warranty issue. This is the last Columbia item I will be purchasing as I have had similar quality issues with other garmets purchased recently (short/pant sizing, cuffs fraying, etc.)

Hems came apart as noted by several other customer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this shirt in August, washed it the first time and all of the thread came out of the sleeve hems, as noted by several other customers who bought this shirt. Love the color and fit which’s why I buy a lot of Columbia products but this purchase was totally disappointing and an inferior quality shirt.

Poor Quality

I bought three of this style (different colors) and the fit is great. However, the quality is extremely poor. The long sleeve has only been washed two times on the delicate cycle and all hem on the sleeves and bottom is gone. Really?? I have only worn it for walking. Very disappointed.

Now manufactured in El Salvador

The previous iteration of this shirt was manufactured in Sri Lanka and was absolute perfection! They are now manufactured in El Salvador. While still attractive and comfortable, the material is not as soft or stretchy. It's also shinier. All polyesters aren't created equal comes to mind. The fit, compared to the previous version, is about 1/2" narrower in the body (XL), 1/2" inch shorter from top to bottom and the sleeves are also 1/2" shorter and 1/2" smaller in diameter at the cuffs. I'd still recommend these but they are simply not as good or comfortable as the older shirts.

good against sun

I bought this shirt for my husband to wear in our high-desert sun. It is cool, comfortable, and good at blocking the sun. The only trouble is that the neck opening is too wide to suit him, exposing too much of the back of his neck to the sun (so he puts on sunblock).

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these! Great for long-limbed women, too!

I now have five of these shirts and I LOVE them! I'm 5' 11" and 150 lbs. so length on women's clothing is always iffy (ESPECIALLY with Columbia -- please hear my plea!). These do, indeed, run long and loose -- I buy XS. Long enough to provide coverage well past my wrist and almost cover my bum. PERFECT for sun protection in hot weather, am now discovering they make a pretty great base layer in cooler weather, too. I MUCH prefer the heather fabric in both look and feel. Think of it this way: a shirt that wears like air, shades you from the sun, wicks moisture, and keeps you warm as a base layer, if needed. Does it get any better? For the ladies: this fits long and loose as described. Shows the bumps you want to reveal, drapes easily over those you don't. :)

Good quality, bad sizing.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good quality but poor sizing. Columbia needs to join the global standards. I wear a LG in everything so I ordered a LG. I know Colu mbia recommends I order a medium but it's hard to trust recommendations from companies. I trust my own purchase history more. Wow! When I received this shirt it was way too big! The rest of the World would call it an extra LG or even 2X LG. I already cut the tags off so I'm going to attempt to dry the crap out of it on high heat in an attempt to shrink it.
