Great after the hack

The first pair I had the fan worked intermittently. My son disassembled it, found a bad solder joint in the battery pack/switch and repaired it. The second pair the battery pack was fine. The defect was in the power receptacle in the goggle. My son removed and replaced it, all good. Both pairs the fans spin like a turbocharger now. Too bad it's been discontinued because it's the only solution I have found to alleviate glasses fogging.

Poor solder joints cause product failure

I returned a pair of these to REI twice already, all with the same problem; fan operation fails within a very few uses. I took the third unit apart and found that the red (positive) wire from the battery had broken free of the circuit board. The black (negative) wire was in nearly the same condition. I was able to solder the wires to the circuit board and reassemble the case, but would not recommend the repair to anyone inexperienced with soldering electronics. This company should recall and repair this expensive product; three of three failing is very poor quality. I suspect Smith's QC check was only to see that the fan operated once – immediately before packaging and shipping – and that the same person who soldered the joints was able to hide his shoddy work when he assembled the battery case.

Great googles minus the fan

Great goggles but fan does not work. First pair the fan worked for about 2 trips to the mountains then stopped completely. I bought a second pair and the fan was dead on arrival. Otherwise goggles are great.

Flawed design and not at all reliable

This worked for a few minutes, cable gets unplugged immediately and the thing died completely so completely unreliable. I returned these and will not buy again.
