The size, coverage, and field of view are extraordinary. Chromapop really does make things look better. These are fantastic as long as you are not in wet snow/rain. The 4D lens takes on a lot of water between the inner and out lens. When it does you will not be able to defog or drain the water without waiting overnight for it to dry. I experienced this problem on their first use. It just happened to be raining. I have warrantied out my main lens for this problem. The included high visibility lens does the same thing. When this happens you cannot clean the water spots that form between the lenses once dry. The photos are of water inside the lens.
I'm a 63 years old passionate skier, I've never been able to ski in low light / foggy conditions due to my lack of contrast eye condition until last week when i bought these googles, i skied all week under snowy, low light and foggy conditions as if its was a sunny day vision conditions, had the best ski week of my life thanks to these googles, i bought a second pair as a spare in case i damage mine on a ski trip and cant find a replacement, lens change is a peace of cake, i've never written a review before but had to share my experience this time, well done Smith, you've put Oakley Prizim to shame.
been rocking Smith goggles for longer than I would like to admit, but 30+ years. I really wanted to like these and on non powder days they are great. Problem is for me that the lower part of the lenses fogs on snowy days when snow collects in my facial hair. the downturned lens that makes these "4D" is the issue as I had a couple pairs of just the I/Os for years and never had this issue. this is now my 3rd season with them and they have become my non-storm skiing goggles only. I really wish they were better but poor engineering on these as every time i get any snow in facial hair the curved lens section fogs.
I have a pair of Skyline XL from last year and if I had to just pick one goggle for the day, maybe I would stick with that because I am a bigger guy and it is a big goggle but these are just amazing. Switching lenses takes two seconds and you know it is secure. I absolutely love these. I would say they are worth the upgrade from the Skyline or the I/O.
Purchased for a gift for my husband to use in Fernie which often has low light days. He said they were great. Best googles for the conditions that he has ever owned….and he has owned an embarrassing number of ski googles. Highly recommend. Might get him the yellow lense as well for particularly flat light days.
These are a game changer. Fantastic optics in any conditions with the included low-light lens. Field of vision is excellent and ventilation (no fogging) is superior to other brands I’ve used. I have these paired with the Smith Vantage 2 helmet and it’s a very comfortable combination. I’m extremely satisfied.
I recently purchased the 4D Mag goggles with the Everyday Red Mirror lens - I had been using that lens color with my Smith Proxy goggles and found it to get washed out in cloudy conditions. I also do a lot of local night skiing and it wasn't great for night time. The Storm Yellow Flash lens that comes with this kit is AMAZING at night and in cloudy/low-light conditions. The 4D Mag goggles have an incredible field of vision - 180 degrees of peripheral vision and they curve under on the bottom, so you can actually see your feet while wearing them and looking straight ahead. When they arrived they had the Red Mirror lens on them - I was heading out to do some night skiing and needed to change the lens to the Storm Yellow Flash lens. It was undoubtedly the easiest goggle lens change I've ever had to perform. Simply pop off the old lens and snap on the new lens. The magnets are snug and strong. As I use a Smith helmet, these fit perfectly with it allowing me to ski without every having to worry about it.
Great goggle. Easy to change lens. Came complete w case google sock and a low light lens that all fits in the case. The low light lens does help in flat light. Very satisfied with this product.
I prefer sunglasses to give a wide vision view, but winter weather says you need googles. Well these are the perfect way to get that sunglasses vision
I been using them last year and never had any issues. The photochromic red lens does great job changing depending on sun and cloudy conditions.
