Details

  • With a European Norm (EN) lower-limit rating of 13°F, the Blue Kazoo is a versatile bag for 3-season backpacking and climbing adventures
  • Lofty 650-fill-power ProDown™ down insulation compresses small and keeps the overall weight of the bag down while providing great warmth
  • ProDown™ is enhanced with a hydrophobic finish that improves warmth by allowing it to dry faster and repel moisture up to 10x longer than untreated
  • Anti-compression pads made from synthetic insulation are sewn into high-pressure areas that contact the ground to create an insulating buffer
  • Shaped hood and down-insulated draft collar hold in warmth
  • Insulated draft tube backs the zipper to prevent warm air from escaping; antisnag tape keeps the zipper from catching on the draft tube
  • Pad loops give you a way to attach the sleeping bag to your sleeping pad (sleeping pad and attachment straps not included)
  • Compression sack and storage sack included

Imported.

Many sleeping bags are rated for temperature by an independent testing protocol, the European Norm (EN) 13537. Each bag gets two ratings: a Comfort rating and Lower Limit rating. The Comfort rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average woman (or "cold sleeper") comfortable, and the Lower Limit rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep an average man (or "warm sleeper") comfortable. Everyone's body and sleep comfort is different, so EN Ratings are merely a guideline to help you compare products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seriously, a fantastic piece of kit! I picked up this bag to replace my 18 year old Cats Meow bag. The Cats Meow still works great, but I wanted something that would compress down smaller and be lighter. Wow, bag technology has come quite a long way since my last bag! The bag compresses down WAY farther than the stuff sack would suggest. I could easily fit clothes, a pillow, or other stuff inside that same stuff sack and cinch it down. Bag was super warm (too warm, actually, for the trip I just took). HIGHLY recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only sleeping bag you will need for 20 years I had a North Face Sleeping bag since 1994 until it was actually stolen. Despite losing some of its loft and warmth over the years, that sleeping bag kept me warm on backpacking adventures throughout the mountains of Montana and rivers of Alaska, Montana and Idaho. When I looked for a replacement, I settled on the Blue Kazoo as the most similar bag to my previous one. Already, I have used it on camping/hunting trips and it is the perfect three season bag. Lightweight, comfortable, durable and warm. I do very little winter camping and if I do, I am usually in some sort of cabin or yurt shelter. So, even on those subzero nights in a yurt back in the mountains in winter, this bag keeps me warm. That is its only limit though.

Could the blue kazoo mens bag be suggested for a woman? would it be that significant of a decrease in warmth for me to use this rather than the womens?

Asked by: yourist2
This sleeping bag can be used by women. One thing to keep in mind is that women tend to sleep 10 degrees colder than men. The EN lower limit for this bag is 13 degrees Fahrenheit for men. For women the EN rating for this bag will be around 25 degrees Fahrenheit.

I am trying to buy the North Face Blue Kazoo sleeping bag for my son, who is a novice camper, and wants a three-season bag for hiking and camping. He is quite tall--6'4", so I am getting the Long Left version of the bag. What size insulating pad?

Asked by: gianetta
A 78" long sleeping pad will work best.
